Before applying to Amazon for approval of affiliate site:

1. Site must have how many product pages and how many content posts as a minimum?

2. Is there any requirem

Hi - initially, Amazon will accept any site regardless of how much content is on it, providing it does not contain promotion of anything illegal. Traffic is not a requirement of acceptance.

It does not have to be exclusive to Amazon, other affiliate links may be added.

However, there are many pitfalls to be aware of. You have to make 3 sales within 180 days, which is not easy when you don't have any traffic. You need to have an affiliate disclosure worded to their exact requirements. You cannot use their product descriptions, reviews or star ratings in any way. You can only use the one image they supply for each product.

Breaking any of these rules will result in you being banned when they inspect your site after 180 days.

Hi Diane,

Thanks for all the information. Really Helpful.

1. Prior to approval also, can it it contain other affiliate links or we should add only after approval?

2. It is only 3 sales or some minimum monetary value is also included.

3. When you say product description, reviews, I understand it means that we cannot use exact same language, but I presume we can create our own reviews using the intent / meaning of their content for description, reviews.

Hi - you can already have affiliate links from other programs, prior to submitting for acceptance from Amazon.

3 separate sales is the minimum, there is no monetary value. They cannot be from yourself, friends or family.

You can't copy and paste descriptions or reviews. Descriptions should be written in your own words. You can write your own reviews, but make it clear they are curated from others if you do not own the product yourself.

But we can use paid traffic for the 3 sales through ad-words or Facebook.

You can get the sales any way you want - free/paid traffic. The main thing is to NOT have family or friends buy through your link.

Otherwise, they don't care if it's free or paid traffic, or from Facebook or Google.

What is better - building a small niche site with 8 to 10 products and 8 to 10 articles or building a bigger siloed site of about 100 pages.

I have in mind a site on he

@Stevemand is right. A site with 10 articles won't rank or make money. Even if you have 10 products to promote, you'll have 50+ articles promoting those products.

There's no set number of products to promote or articles to write. You keep writing and improving to increase traffic and sales.

Siloing based on topic is good, no matter how big your site is!

In order for people to find you on Google etc., You will need vast amounts of good quality content with great keywords. Stick to the training, your questions are answered there. Personally I won't be expecting my website to get much traffic until I have at least 100 posts. All the best. Jim

what is taught here is to build a narrow niche site to gain recognition quickly.
you will be blogging about a topic for typically 6-12 months before you get any major returns, so make sure it is one with lots to talk about.
you will be solving problems rather than just promoting products, these will be your recommendations.
thin sites will not be ranked by google very highly or quickly, but google is not the only form of traffic.
as you say a siloed site is the way to go, but make sure you don't spread yourself too thin and try to talk to too many niches.
good luck
phil

Thanks. What i have in mind is to have about 3 to 4 niches as different siloes and put about 30 to 40 problem solving articles for each of the niches. Can even expand if required.

start with one niche and expand only after you start making traction there.
it is the difference between using a shotgun and a rifle in getting to your target.
each one of your niches can be a major authority site, rather than a medoicre mix.
your choice.
phil

As Phil days, start with one Niche. Get it perfect before moving to the next. Content will only be one of the issues you will face, you will need to constantly streamline your website. Check out the loads of training provided by other members particularly people such as Zed from smartkateer, he's what I would call a real web expert. Jim
