Setback or Reset

I have just spent 10 days on a master cleanse drinking lots of water and 'lemonade'. Not the sugary fizzy kind. A tablespoon each of lemon juice and pure maple syrup with a pinch of cayenne pepper in a large glass of water (about 480 mls) every time I felt hungry.

My reason for resorting to this extreme measure is that I have been well on a healthy diet and let myself slide back to the occasional takeaway for convenience and treat just because. Eventually I got this horrible flu called Influenza A that didn't seem to go away.

This seemed to be a setback for my business and my life. It was very frustrating not being able to talk to people without coughing and having to put of any face to face contact. I felt like maybe it was a sign that I was in the wrong line of work.

When I thought about that and looked at my health track record I decided that there was a lot to learn from this opportunity and that it was actually going to help me with my business! I started to look at the flu as a reset button. Get some rest, remember you are not a machine and you need to be nurturing and nourishing yourself and start with a reset.

I chose to flush the flu out instead of trying to suppress it with medication. Usually when I do a cleanse I have a few days of feeling a bit icky then I feel great for the rest of the time. This time I already had the flu so I have been feeling pretty icky all the way through. I can feel the improvement each day though and will persevere. I can use essential oils while fasting this way but the recommendation is to stop all supplements.

I have amazing supplements that will help my immune system get on top of anything in future. They are infused with essential oils which simply makes them work better.

For the next few days I will ease back to food starting with orange juice and oranges for 2 days then adding fruit and salads before going back to 'normal'. By normal I mean eating food instead of just juice and water. Not just food, 'clean' food. What do I mean by 'clean'?

Clean food is generally as free from human intervention as possible. This means no processed food which includes sugar, oil, cereal, biscuits, crackers, bread. I have also chosen to eat vegan which means no animal products.

Sometimes it takes a few 'resets' to sink in that you need to change something. The changes I am making are based on what my body is telling me so please don't think I am suggesting anyone else should be as drastic as I am. Once your body is starting to clean up you will know what is better for it and what you need to give up. I just know that when I eat the foods that I have eliminated from my diet I have reactions like sleepiness, pain, inflammation, bloating and lack of clarity. What I eat effects my mind and body and even my emotions. In order to be a functioning Chief Energy Officer in my business I need to action what will keep me in top form and that, for me, starts with what goes in my mouth.

Of course moving and proper exercise is part of the process too. As is trying to eliminate as many chemicals from my life as possible. These are for another blog. My priority for now is to reset my digestive system which in turn will return some clarity to my brain. Short strolls and stretching will help me ease into a proper exercise program once my reset is complete.

So when something seems to be deflecting you from your business or life and you think you may be on the wrong track, think again. Is it really a setback, or is it a reset? Hitting the reset button can sometimes make things move along much faster. Take heart, take responsibility and don't give up!

hi,here's something to try when u have a reacuring illness in family, get a spray can of lysol disinfectant spray( kills 99.99% viruses & bacateria) .2nd step; where ur hvac& heater has an air return ,remove dirty filter, turn on fan only ,spray Lysol for 3-5 minutes. this kills germs in duct work, stops spreading same virues& bacteria ,to whole house, then spray lysol on pillows on every bed, couch, etc.Replace air filter with a clean NEW filter.Really helps.Blessings 2 ya.LTW

I use pure therapeutic grade essential oils that kill ALL bacteria and viruses. Won't use anything else - it's not natural! My body depends on me to nourish and take care of it starting with proper nutrition and exercise and not using synthetic chemicals when I can use something natural. I clean with a chemical free product that has 5 essential oils that kill viruses and bacteria and digest mold. Use it for dishes and laundry as well. Have a spray with these oils for 'disinfecting' pillows and such. Then I diffuse the oils in whatever room I am in so it smells wonderful and kills all the bugs.

The sickness I had was from not eating clean and cleansing foods so my liver was clearing out as best it could through my sinuses. All better now and eating properly - on my way to getting an exercise regime as well.

Having said that, you are probably right about the aircon filter - don't know how long since it was cleaned and we are renting so..... eeeew! Thanks for sharing :)

I agree, when you take the view of a reset, instead of a setback, great things can happen!

Hey beautiful! I've been doing a few resets lately. All in the name of learning what not to do lol :)

Hi there Cherie. From time to time I follow some of these "extreme" diets (including a few day starvation) and feel much lighter. Contrary to popular belief these resets help people develop more optimistic perspective. Good on you!

Hi Mudre,
Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog. I am feeling much better and definitely sticking with clean food from now on. Now whenever I look at bread or cake or other processed food I immediately think of how I felt when I ate that stuff and have no intention of going there again. Check out my facebook page "Let's Cleanse".
Cheers, ~Cherie

Cheri,
I love your blog, I drink this lemonade too, but mine is made with lemon juice and honey. I would like to know more about 'clean food'. Get well really soon.
Juliet

Thank you Juliet,
I am getting better every day and learning what helps and what doesn't. Love to share what I know about 'clean food'. I have a facebook page called Let's Cleanse where I will be documenting what I am doing - started with the 10 day cleanse. Feel free to find my page and like it. My facebook link is on my profile. I'll message you as well.
Cheers, ~Cherie

Hi, Cheri, I am familiar with that cleanse.. should probably do the same myself.. Your supplements sound amazing and would be interested in hearing more about them for sure. Hope you are feeling better and will be following you around here now.. :) Great Blog!

Hi Paula,
Thank you for taking time to leave a comment on my blog. I am definitely on the mend. Yesterday I ate a large fresh fruit salad for dinner and a carrot/celery juice nightcap. Today I have had fresh juice, smoothie, supplements and dinner was an amazing salad with a load of raw veges and a few seeds and cashews (raw). Fresh fruit salad for desert. Happy to share what I use for supplements - I'll message you.
Cheers, ~Cherie

Thank you! Please do. Looking forward to hearing from you.
