The Vital Importance of Benefits
4 Months, Getting Traffic, Missing Conversions
Right now I am learning on deeper levels the tremendous importance of benefits for our readers.
I've had my blog for 4 months now. I am privileged to be part of the beta test training group WA Go-Getters with Bo Tipton.
With him acting as my personal trainer, he has helped me to be really efficient in implementing all the great training we have available to us at Wealthy Affiliate.
By the way, that training is available to everyone at WA...Bo is taking what he is teaching to the beta test group and then sharing it with everyone here. Beta test means you take what works and then roll it out. Its being rolled!
Because of that great guidance, I have a website that is getting a good deal of traffic. It ranges from 500 to 2000 visitors a week, depending on the weather.
That's not where I want to be six months or a year from now, But it's pretty good from what I hear for the first 4 months.
A Sidebar About the Training
I can tell you it is not due to using some magic pill or a secret sauce. It is due to my implementing the training by working 4-8 hours every working day since I started.
Not a Magic Pill! What Bo does it to break down the tasks into chunks we all work on each week. Having a personal coach or trainer does not mean the coach doesn't mean he invents a new way to exercise. It means the level of being accountable for doing the work is raised. He's giving us his time and experience, and we give back to him by following through on our commitment to him.
You know who my follow-through benefits the most? ME!
OK, I digress.I just wanted to be sure to let you know that I am not getting anything every other WA Affiliate gets. The only thing different I am getting is my personal trainer. Part of the commitment we all made is that we will pass on the training we get, so it benefits everyone else in the Wealthy Affiliate community.
What Do We Want To Happen With Our Traffic?
Let me be blunt here...we want conversions. We want sales. We want to make money.
This is a business venture, isn't it?
And I can tell you that I am not having that happen yet.
Yeah, I know it has been only 4 months. I am not being impatient here. Really.
What I am being is focused to make sure I am doing absolutely everything I can so that as my traffic grows, in another six months or a year, I AM getting the conversions and sales.
So What's Missing I Asked
So when I asked, Bo told me that it is all about the benefits to the readers.
I know the formula for my blog posts: state a problem with the pain it causes, tell my solution, point out the benefits (pain relief), and ask for a response - the call to action.
I have those elements in everyone of my blog posts. I have long-tail keywords I developed carefully in Jaaxy. I am using my real estate in my blog well.
I have some ads I am running. I am working on bulding email lists with autoresponders. I have pop-ups on my blog. I've written some EBooks.
I have external links, internal links.
I have lots of comments from my friends at Wealthy Affiliate and beginning to get some from the outside.
I'm regularly visiting other blogs and forums and social media to make comments, to build my brand, increase my authority and professionalism, and to create backlinks.
Now I'm making videos and putting them in my blogs, on Social Media and on YouTube.
I'm working to interface each of those, so that they complement one another.
I'm telling you this, so you can see that I really am implementing the training we get here at Wealthy Affiliate.
Benefits, Benefits, Benefits
The big area for me for improvement is to improve with defining the benefits. Bo taught me that this past week. In fact, it has been a consistent theme.
He said the formula that consistently happens for folks who are successful in internet marketing, is this:
It is a 1% rule. 1% of all traffic converts into clicks, and 1% of clicks convert into sales.
This means that if I have 10,000 visitors, that should convert into 100 clicks and that should convert into 1 sale..
For me two big ideas come out of that!
One, is I need traffic! I am patting myself on the back that I am taking the massive action to drive traffic. Traffic is growing.
The other is I need conversions. So far, (and, yes, my blog is young still) I am not getting the conversions that match those industry norms. It would be great to work to exceed those norms in the future, but for now, I just want to hit them.
To get the conversions, I need to make sure I am very, very clear about the pain the problem causes, and the benefits my readers will get from my solutions.
So my task is to go back through every single ad, every single autoresponder, every single pop-up and every single post, to review to make sure I have emphasized the terrific benefits I am offering people with the problem that led them to find me in the first place!
This is where I am putting my focus going forward.
Thanks for helping me find exactly what I need to do to get better, Coach!
What about you? Are you getting the traffic but not the sales conversions? If so, take action with me on your benefits! Let us all know the results you get.

Great job, Annie. As the cliche goes - you have to be in it to win it - and from the sound of things, you are on your way!
Continued success.

Wow Annie, I hear you. And I am now going to go back and see if my benefits are truly showing also. Thank you for this. And as a member of Bo's trailblazer group I have to also say, I have no doubt because of his guidance that we are truly on our way to soar. And every one has access to this. Thank you.
It is good to be a part of this with you, Ariel.
I love the community of mutual benefit and pay-it-forward here at Wealthy Affiliate.
Hi Annie, yes, I am going bake and making sure there is a benefit to my readers. Thanks for the reminder.
Best of luck to you!.

You bet. Sometimes I get writing, just brain-dumping. It is good to remind myself why I am putting it all down!
I love this post, Annie! Yes, to getting more traffic and with more traffic you can expect more conversations. The 1% rule is spot on. Sounds daunting, I know, but it's so worth it.
I'm so glad to be on this journey with you.
All the best,
Sue
And I with you, Sue.
I know I want more and more traffic, and am deeply grateful to Bo, the rest of the WA Go-Getters group and the WA community for their help and guidance and encouragement to get there!
Annie
I am glad it spoke to you. That is the intent!
We all encourage one another, right?
Annie
Thank you, Marcus.
It's less than that there is something new, than that we need to focus and apply what we have already learned, right?
