Is this correct - Soft approach over hard Sell?

Came across an interesting article yesterday, which is particularly poignant to us Brits certainly. Few people like a hard sale, and marketers have known for years that in most cases, a prospect must hear your message an average of seven times before they will make a purchase. (This is the point of the funnel approach, no)

Is this correct, seven times? You build interest slowly. Its said

  1. Start with an informative message – a message that educates the reader in some way on the topic that your product or service is related to
  2. How your product or service can solve a problem
  3. Ease into the benefits of your product
  4. Your final message should be the sale pitch – not your first one! What is a

.It mentions a swap file - What is a ‘swap’ file?

It goes on, not to start with a hard sale. (Certainly NOT for UK people) Build your potential customers interest. Keep building on what the problem is, and how your product or service can solve that problem or fill that need.

If you are doing this right, by the time the potential customer reads the last message in that series, they will be convinced enough to make a purchase!

Any pointers? Appreciate any help........

Have a Gr8 day

Interesting post.

But what is a swap file? Did you get an answer yet?

Have a good weekend?

Nobody likes to be pushed into buying something, so if you do so ,you will lose this contact or even worse get marked as spammer.

As an English person I prefer not to be sold to.
I like information then making up my own mind.

Hi Dave, from my understanding, if you are creating an email list then it is better to gain trust from the potential customer prior to offering products. A lot will say that it is wise to use your first 5 - 7 emails to allow people to get to know you and also give away so free content. Your story will resonate with people if they are similar.

In terms of 'hard selling' this all depends really. A lot of what you do is in the keywords you use on your posts.

For instance, cold traffic would be someone searching 'running shoes' so they are purely browsing.
If you had keywords for say 'the best running shoes for women with wide feet' then there is more intent to purchase.
So in my opinion, the sell is based on the keywords and the intent of the buyer.

Hope this made sense.

Regards,
Mark

There are a few very experienced AM people on here who would say don’t sell at all just present the facts and let the reader make their own mind up.

This, I think, is why reviews are so popular with AM.🧐
