Wealthy Affiliate gives us the skills, the know-how and the tools to create an online business, but we need to go out there and find low competition niches if we are to be successful. Today I want to tell you about a little niche that I stumbled upon some time ago. I didn't realize it at the time but that opportunity would end up being very profitable.
Keeping your eyes open for small business opportunities
Some time ago I was on YouTube, watching a whole variety of videos as I'm sure many of you do. Whilst YouTube can be very distracting for us online workers, it can also be a very good source of information. Some time ago I stumbled upon a series of health and fitness videos that I found quite interesting at the time. The company that were creating these videos looked very professional and I quickly realized that they were promoting a health and fitness drink. Low competition is guaranteed success!
After doing a quick search online I found the official website, which again was done very well and looked very professional. And yes, they had an affiliate program which paid a very good commission.
I stared doing a bit of competition research by looking online for reviews and information. To my amazement, there were very few! And the information that I did find was pretty old and out dated.
Investment pays!
After reading all I could about the product in question, I started to build a small website around what I has learned. The website was about 10 pages in size, including all the legal stuff. I talked about the videos on YouTube and reviewed the actual product. I invested a little money into purchasing the website and a bit of time doing my research. Because of the low competition and outdated information provided by others, my website went right to the top of Google within a month.
The results of time, effort and taking a chance!
Small business opportunities are everywhere and sometimes you just need to take a leap of faith. I have tried to promote products in the past and have failed miserably! But that doesn't mean that you should give up. After doing my research and building my website for the product in question here, I really didn't know what the results would be. However, I did know that based on my research that I stood a good chance of getting ranked in Google.
The site went right to the top of the search engines and thankfully the site started to generate commissions.
From stumbling upon this product on YouTube and taking a small chance, I managed to generate over $3000 in commission. My total investment was a website and the time it took to build and promote on social media. Yes, a fair few hours went into building the website, but the commissions made it worth while.
This works the same way in any niche
No matter what niche you are working in, there are always opportunities to cash in where others haven't ventured. And you don't need to create a whole new website as I did in the example above. In most cases you will find a lot of "low hanging fruit" as we call it in Wealthy Affiliate. This occurs in every niche!
Opportunities to grow your online business may well be passing you by without you even realizing it. My advice would be to investigate anything that you would consider a possibility for your website. You never know what you might find!

That's right! I believe you just hit the nail on the head there. If you keep in mind what you learn here at Wealthy Affiliate and keep your mind open to the possibilities, then you start to see those small business opportunities that can really amount to some good money. Like you say, you just need to walk around with your eyes open.
Very good Andrew! I'm guessing this comes under the "mini niche" umbrella? This is something that I want to do in the future but I want to get my authority site generating good revenue first. Then and only then will I venture into another niche.

Yes, I guess you would call this a mini-niche! Its definitely something that you should consider for the future. But yes, I totally agree, developing an authority site should come first.
