Joy to The World

Deck your halls with boughs of holly 'coz it's a season to be jolly".

You know the song and you know the spirit of Christmas. 'Tis the season to be jolly, when long ago a baby came into this world who went on to cause uproar and to change the world of men, A baby, who was predicted to come by men long before, who set signs and conditions to indicate that this baby would be the fabled Messiah.

Three wise men, who were apparently expert in astrology, followed a sign the in the skies that took them to Bethlehem, bearing gifts that are the root of our Christmas spirit in this modern world. But we've gone and lost what was meant to be the true purpose of the signs and prophecies of the ancient guys who said they spoke to and for God.

Shepherds in a field were said to have been visited by an angel - messenger from God - to set the scene for what all of this is, and was always about. An angel told the shepherds about the baby and what was really going on.

How many times have you heard the following words? I bet it's hundreds or possibly even thousands of times - these words are engraved into the psyche of the modern western world and we herald them every year in late December on the same day the Romans celebrated on of their major festivals where they decorates homes and lit them up, even giving each other gifts on the Roman feast of Saturnalia on December 25th.

They say an angel said:

"Peace On Earth And Goodwill To All Men"

Ask yourself a quick question - why would an angel have goodwill towards all men? Why would God?

If that seems an odd question then perhaps consider this. The ancient prophets foretold a Messiah, a saviour, who would bring about the destruction of the wicked. If that's why Christ is coming back - to get rid of the wicked, why would God have goodwill to all men?

The simply answer is, God doesn't have goodwill towards all men. Time and time again we hear in our Bibles how God hates the wicked and is sending Christ at the head of an army to cleanse to Earth of wicked men.

What Did The Angel Did Not Say

So where does that leave the message from the angel? Was the angel lying to the shepherds? What would an angel have to gain by deception? Nothing really.

But, what would man have to gain by deception? Men over the centuries have twisted the Bible texts and re-interpreted them to their own political ends, beginning with the Romans as their empire collapsed and they absorbed their version of Christianity 400 years of so after Christ died, and became the Holy Roman Empire. The Pope is the modern Caesar.

Angels do not have a habit of telling lies. The message they gave to the shepherd was not the message we all know and cherish but it is one we should.

Their message was about peace - it is a prophecy for the future, after the events that a baby was born to complete have reached their conclusion - which is peace and harmony with all men united under common human purpose.

Because of this angel's message every Christian will know that what's ahead isn't the end of the world - it's the end of the madness and also the setting straight of the reality of the existence of our Creator.

So what did this angel really say?

"There WILL BE peace on Earth among men of GOODWILL"

Here's what the angel said - it's relevant to all of us because it describes the whole spirit of Christmas in one prophecy:

"There WILL BE peace on Earth among men of GOODWILL"

- what a cool prophecy to complete what the Bible is all about.

Christmas Is For The Future.

This prophecy relates to the future but if we want to get into the spirit of this then at least let's start with one day in a year where we accept that it's about love and family. It's about the future with the whole human race at peace and united, knowing where we all went wrong, and after we've helped fix this Earth and created a New World.

So, happy future, everyone and do please always remember what the angel said. There's a brave new world on the horizon.
