I don't post much here on the blog but I want to post something I have been working on the past couple of months. Producing podcasts. It's not something I learned here at WA, but I felt confident to do it because of all the knowledge I accumulated from being part of the WA community since 2015.
My best friend and I have talked about starting a podcast for years. Well, we finally did it. We have a brand new podcast. Only 2 episodes released as of right now, but more coming the next few days.
The latest episode is one that I think everybody should listen. It is about a topic that is controversial and sensitive.
Recent events have shown that race is a topic that has been long overdue. We have witnessed so many communities around the world protest on social media and the streets about unlawful and unjust treatment that occurs to individuals based on race.
2020 is the time for change and reflection. It is important to realize the factors at play. Even though some progress has been made, explicit and implicit racism still exist.
Educating ourselves on the relevant matters on race and becoming an advocate against racial injustice starts with deconstructing our preconceived notions about race, racism, and implicit bias.
I am white and my friend is Chinese Vietnamese. We see racism from a different persective. I know that there is so much I don't know. It wasn't something that I had to deal with while growing up. We had no idea what racism is. But now, as an adult, I see it everywhere.
