Struggling with. myself

I'm still at the beginning of building up my website and, sometimes, it is not easy at all (not that I ever thought it would be easier) 👈

I often spend my time reading, gathering all the useful information that I need just to end up by wondering how will I ever learn to be original, effective and successful at same time; I don t even know how compatibile are these 3 words ... 🤔

Moreover, after reading about someone who built up a consistent website with really interesting posts, about 70 posts I think, yet, for some unknown reason, the owner of that website did not enjoy any progress or succes which made him feel frustrated and discouraged. Both of us were probably wondering the same terrifying question:"Why?" 👩‍💻

Then I read some other people's posts realizing that it is normal to GO though periods when it takes some time to clarify or find a way out of the so called "grey zones" when feelings like" There is something really important that I'm missing here or cant wait to figure out" then a sudden enlightenment occurs out of the blue but only until you reach a next level when the same story repeats itself over and over again. 😬

I will use a more convenient comparison to make myself clearer. After I read someone's bio, I copied and pasted a quote that I really liked: "Don't wait for a full toolbox when you just need a hammer to get started now!". This quote made ME think that we May start with only one tool when we want to build something and, as we progress, everything falls into place and we end up with a full toolbox we initially longed for. 👏

Anyway, I cant stop wondering how one can spend a year and a half building a consistent website of about 70 long, well documented post and Still feel stuck on the path of progress. 💁‍♀️

What do you think? Please share your opinion: what should we do or what did you have to do when you wanted to see progress ahead but you ended up in a rather regressive state. What should be done? What should be changed? 🕵️‍♀️

Hi Ana,

First of all, thank you for sharing this quote: "Don't wait for a full toolbox when you just need a hammer to get started now!" I used to say something similar, but that quote, in particular, is MUCH better!

As for what I think: I think this is very common and almost always boils down to how someone measures success. When focusing on a single goal, such as making money blogging, it can certainly feel discouraging if we don't see the results we expected when we first started, especially after a year.

However, it would be a tragedy if someone were to stop when they experience these "grey zones" because they are blessings in disguise. Even though they may not have started to make money blogging, they now have a year's worth of experience. That alone can be more valuable and profitable than blogging itself.

I talk about this a lot on my blog but starting a business allows you to build new skills as you gain experience. New skills can now be used to expand your earning potential beyond the initial intention, in this case, to make money blogging.

Starting a blog doesn't just restrict you to a single path to earn an income. You had to learn how to build a website and do keyword research SEO to start the blog. Website development and SEO research are VERY valuable skills on the internet.

The blog you built is now a beacon for you to showcase these new skills you gained, and there's nothing to stop you from offering these skills on gig marketplaces like Upwork or Fiverr.

Even though you may not be earning an income from the blog directly, the blog can still increase your income in other ways as you continue to build it. When you start to earn an income from the blog itself, its just another revenue stream, one of many :)

Thank you for writing this post, Ana; it's helped reinforce my approach to online business and inspired a future blog post!

Sincerely,
-Kyle

Hey Kyle

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

That quote is a real inspiration indeed no matter what other different words one might use to express the same idea :-)

I also agree that the so called "grey zones" are blessings in disguise and parts of the learning process that makes you curious and ambitious to explore all the possible stages.

And, yes, you never know what changes or surprises might show up along the way :-)

Thank you for your warm AND detailed comment.

Kind regards,

Ana Maria

Life rolls forward with wonderful consistent momentum. Enjoy each moment. Someone is watching us, but you already know that.

Ron

Thank you Ron🙂

Don't concern your self with other people, focus on your own journey

Good advice🙂Thank you 🙃

I can certainly understand this, I've stuck with a few things for a while and then got rid of them! It is not wasted effort or time, if it leads us to a better avenue to success!

I'll be deleteing the website that I have been sitting on after it was transferred to me by a collaborator who was going to turn it over after he brought me up to speed! I have a new vision of where I wish to go with it!

Take heart, this is all part of starting a new venture! The definisition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different result!

Best success to you, Ana Maria! Take heart, we all go through this at one time or another!

Jeff

Hi Jeff🙂
Thank you for your kind words and understanding attitude🙃
I like your positive mindset and that you find encouraging words even when you probably have few left for yourself 🤗

P. S. I love that you included the definition of insanity în your message although all the revolutionary people I know were not that sane🤭

There is something to be said about your last statement, Ana Maria! That is true too.

I have to be positive no matter what is going on, because negativity will only exacerbate things. The point is that when we are knocked down, we must always get up, dust ourselves off, and get moving in the right direction again!🌞👍

I hope you are having an AWESOME Saturday!

Jeff😎🐶🐶😹
