I have been working on my website since yesterday and am thrown for a loop when it comes to adding categories to my pages. And I created my first post, but want to change move

oh.. I am only on lesson 6. Maybe I am getting too far ahead of myself then.

Thank you!! I did exactly what you said.. my post is a page.. grr. LOL! Now I will just copy and paste it onto a post and delete it after. Funny. So what I want to do is create categories of states for my travel tales page. I think I got it figured out.. thank you so much!

I believe that Course 1, Lesson 8 is the lesson that shows us how to customize our web pages. I hope that helps!

That lesson talks specifically about menus. There is a difference between the two. I personallyuse both menus and categories to oranize my content. As your website grows you will be able to better decide which is the right way to go for you.

Are you sure that you published as a post and not a page. This just might be your hang up.

Otherwise, to create new categories you go to your Word Press dashboard. Hover your pointer over posts on the left hand side of your screen.

You see a sub menu appear to the right where you can select categories.

From here you can create new categories and manage existing ones.

An alternative to moving your missing post is to go into the edit section of the post.

On the right hand side of the edit post screen you will see a menu where you can select which category you want it in.

I hope this helpful. Good luck
