My comment rant

I'm new to all this. No experience outside WA and I've been here less than 3 months. That said, I'm peeved about the comment situation. In tasks, we're asked to offer posts for comment and to give comment on others. OK, at first I was getting back 1 for 2. I was alright with that. Figured that's par. Last time in tasks, I gave six, got one. Upset me. Typing is not a strength of mine (1 finger). I'm going to stick with site comments.

I try to give relevant, interesting, useful comments. When I give what a person calls a great comment and disapproves it because I didn't commit to his product, I feel like I've been cheated. Worse, Spammed.

Disapproval Reason: Alan, I appreciate the gesture in your comment, but I really do not have time to chase the rabbit. I don't mind a great comment that you love what you read, it intrigued you, but to say you are going to commit and don't, please do this somewhere else.

By the way, I spell my name correctly, if you can't, then copy and paste.

Also, if I'm wrong about this, somebody tell me why. Please. If anybody reads it.

Hi Allan,

I would follow, Mels suggestion, and focus on SiteFeedback rather than SiteComments. Don't worry many of us here have had comments disapproved.

I would also encourage you to follow more people, most will follow back, that way they'll get a notification when you blog and you'll start getting more comments, you'll start to build relationships with more members who in turn will offer many helpful tips.

There are so many of us here that want to help.

Site Comments are a mixed bag. I stick to giving Site Feedback (which can't be disapproved which means I always get the credits for the work) and then I spend them to get comments. I rarely disapprove comments because you can't really do that in the real world if your sites are unmoderated.

Just trying to feel my way through. Thought comments were important to site health and I'm trying to be helpful. I did some feedback, but I feel the necessity to be honest and sometimes I'm not very tactful. If you show me junk, then I call it a heap of crap. At the same time, in asking for feedback, sometimes I'm looking for constructive criticism and not necessarily praise, unless it's deserved. Like I said, I'm new and I admit, I need help.
