How do you choose products you promote ?
I was wondering what a better approach is :
1.To promote many productswith smaller commission
or
to promote fewer products with higher commissions
2.To promote products from many niches
or
to promote products from one specialised niche
3.To promote digital products
or
to promote physical products
or
to promote both types
I know it would be ideal to promote many digital products with higher commision from one specialised niche, but is it possible?
As a beginner, I have to go wide and see what I will catch but what successful affiliate marketers do?
I would love to hear what your approach in this matter is?
It would help me as well as other newbies
Regards,
Alex

You sound like I used to. Until WA that is. WA explains that your mission is helping others. When we talk about promoting a product, the idea behind it is to inform people about the benefits of a product that they did not know about until you showed it to them. You are simply laying good information out there and incidentally making money doing it. You can't promote a product without being passionate about it.
I would suggest to go from low (not lowest) to middle range prices. Once the site has decent traffic, you would want see what is the demog of that site and see if high end products would be suitable to be promoted. Again, with Affiliate marketing, the main aim is to get people click on your links and once there are on the vendor site, many possibilities can happen. They might end up buying more than one products.
My opinion.

Thanks for input but what about people who want to make money with affiliate marketing but don't have real passion or if they do have passion it can't be turned into affiliate marketing business?
I read a post by a really successful marketer here on WA. He basically said that you won't necessarily make money writing about your passion (if no one else is that passionate about it) and you don't have to be passionate about a topic/product to make money with it.
You just have to know how to market - i.e. choose good theme, write good content, find good product, look at visitor data/performance, make adjustments, repeat.
Passion for a topic of course makes writing about it easier.
I like the advice of newmarketpro above. Write good content (passionate or not). Find about low-ish to medium priced products. See what visitors are clicking on. Then gear your content/site to entice those types of visitors to JUST click through to the vendor. My opinion :)
