Make the Transition Marketing is a Thing

Just about everyone that comes to the online marketing world comes for one reason they are seeking change. Look at your reasons, were you not looking for a better life, a better way to earn and create income. That is what it is all about.

It is about selling and promoting. When we look at blogging, it is about creating words that will entice people to buy from you.

That is the outcome you are striving to create.

We can candy coat it as much as we want to. Income with affiliate marketing is derived from someone clicking on a link that we have an association with.

From observation, what holds many of us back, is the inability to transition from being an everyday person to become that marketing person.

Unless we make that transition, we are going to be trapped between both worlds. At least figure out that we need to move towards becoming a marketer.

Everything you do is now about creating that presence.

.

Nothing else matters!

Unless you know what you are about, then nothing is going to happen.

What are you selling and to whom you are selling it?

Ask yourself that question daily.

When you get into the mindset shift, things will start to change for you. I see so often people caught in the middle. They set up an account, and it is a personal account, they just can't let the personal go. As we know, many platforms require you to set up a personal account before you can create a business account.

The reality is that the majority of people on planet earth only have a personal account, does that tell you about the whole gig.

Let go of the personal. It is marketing.

My question is, do you approach things from a marketing perspective?

They call it affiliate marketing for a reason.

The plant business and marketing

I have an interest in the plant nursery business, and there is a disease that nursery folks get.

There is some space in the nursery, so the driving desire is to fill it up with plants. I guess you could call it;

" fill up every spare bit of dirt with a plant disease."

Most nursery folks like to grow stuff why else become involved in that industry. The trap; you continually keep filling space with plants; you love it.

Do you ask what is wrong with that?

There is a real issue; the selling gets lost in the equation. It happens time and time again. That business is on a slow burn to going out of business. When you take into consideration that every time you touch that plant, it is decreasing in value, weeding, watering, fertilizing, controlling pests, and diseases.

The desire to grow plants overrides the need to sell plants.

No, sell no money!

You may disagree; that is okay. I would like to know your thoughts.

Just closing out, we will take Facebook, they make money by selling advertising if marketers didn't place ads, then Facebook wouldn't make any money.

If marketers didn't sell anything or achieve their desired outcomes, they would not place any ads; Facebook would go out of business.

If you haven't transitioned, you are worried about what others are posting if you have transitioned you are continually looking at ways to make things work for you as a marketer.

There is a canyon between the two mindsets.

I agree with you Alex. I’m trying to make that transition in my head and it wasn’t until your blog popped up that it really dawned on me what has been troubling me deep down. I still question myself daily that I am capable of being that marketer.. some days I believe and some days not- usually when I realise there’s so much I still don’t know. I feel like I’m juggling balls and another gets added every day, but my hands get smaller..

I continue because I think even deeper down, I believe in myself. My situation isn’t ideal right now with all the travelling I do with my son. But I don’t begrudge that , he will be gone to school in USA soon and I need my business here to be with me wherever I am.

Hi Helen, I think you have touched on how many of us feel at times, making or starting to make the transition towards thinking in terms of being a marketer.

In that cause, we can be the architects of our demise.

I love the way that you described juggling the many facets of online marketing, so many can relate to the feeling.

A great way to describe things with the juggling analogy.

You will be so proud of your son, is he going on a scholarship, he has a very bright future ahead of him.

Wish him well.

Thanks, Alex. It is transitioning the mind between business and emotional, a wide gulf to cross.
I start my day with the question," what can I do first that may return money or income"
I then do something that meets the question.
I could be a newsletter, an email. a follow-up call or even finishing a post.
We all spend a bundle of time on things we like doing, and that's Ok as long as they are down the order.
( like playing on Wealthy Affiliate too long haha)

Classic Peter, I like your take on things, if we ask that question then it helps us to focus.

Online marketing is a big boy's/big girls world we just need to put on our big boys/ big girls' pants every day.

I really like your methodology, asking;

" what can I do first that may return money or income"

That will get us on track from the get-go.

Alex.

Marketing is necessary today. That’s what makes it more difficult because all successful businesses do it, the competition goes up a notch.

Therefore. It makes perfect sense to learn about marketing because you are the marketer in affiliate marketing.

Hi Stanley I like that one;

" learn about marketing because you are the marketer in affiliate marketing ".

That is an awesome way to look at things.

Alex

Lightbulb moment, I guess... thanks.

I reckon, Stanley, and it is those lightbulb moments that can lead to that breakthrough moment.

Yup. It is a business. Luckily, I came into this with a marketing mindset. I don't know if I'm good at it, but I have the mindset. lol.

Paula

That is awesome, Paula, we don't have to be the best in the world starting out, just thinking along those lines can make all the difference.

Best wishes.

Alex
