What Is Better Use Of Time Blogging or Vlogging? What Is Enough Content?

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all having a great week so far?

I have been considering the effectiveness of everything that I do online and questioning all aspects of my content production recently, with a view to rationalising what my team does and how they do it.

Blogging takes a fair amount of time and seems to have very limited impact. I personally have been producing almost 100% of our blog post content since 2017, that is spread over several websites and niches. In the last 8 years we have created 3158 blog posts across all our websites on Wealthy Affiliate, of which 1901 are ranked by Google.

Vlogging seems to be much more effective and I have 4 successful Youtube channels that are all growing, in terms of subscribers and views, and maybe I will do a 5th Youtube channel focussing on another niche, where I do have some websites already, and video content as well.

I have one of my Social Media adviser/gurus who is encouraging me to go fully into the AI Avatar creation to produce videos on my behalf. The cost would be$500 to 1000 per calendar month, and also I would lose direct control of the content production.

The point of this additional video production would be to attempt to compete with much bigger content producers. I could do this. However, I am not certain that this is the correct way to go - maybe it would actually be better to keep the videos prepared by me personally, rather than an AI avatar, no matter how realistic it may be.

After all, what I am trying to do is build a trust based relationship between me and my clients, since the niche that I am in deals with high end products and services, so a high level of trust is needed before people will choose to do business with you.

Although AI generated videos could be produced in larger numbers, would they actually have the same impact as my personal videos?

I will give you an example of a recent personal video that I produced for my mindset coach and accountability peers, that vizualised the successful completion of one of my major goals for the first quarter of the year.

I posted this short video on my Youtube channel as a short, unlisted. By mistake the video was posted publically and lo and behold someone who i did not know reacted to my video. I received an email from this person advising of negative connotations of me vizualizing my successful completion of a major transaction, within hours of it being posted in error.

For me it was a lesson in the immense power of video on Youtube and Social Media.

Had i done a blog post recording my future successful completion of the same transaction, I am absolutely certain that I would not have received any response whatsoever, and that very few if any people would have even bothered to read my post.

Video has a distinct power to reach an individual who is interested in a particular topic and to connect with them and thus encourage them to react; which is what actually happened in real time, prompting an interested viewers reaction, an email from a colleague of the viewer and a reply from me to the people who got in touch. All this within a couple of hours of the video being posted.

So my big takeaway lesson for this week is the immense power of video to actually reach parties who may be interested in the topic that you are vlogging about..

If ever there was a clear demonstration of why i should do less blogging and more vlogging then this was as clear as daylight to me.

I have not been shy of producing written blogpost content in the past and i have produced more than 3158 blog posts during the period since i started working online with Wealthy Affiliate, across all our websites and niches, plus there are other blog posts on other platforms such as Medium.com and other websites that are hosted on other hosting platforms like Namecheap and Bluehost. We have around 2000 blog posts ranked on Google.

My conclusion from the above is that: What I will be doing from now on is focussing more of my effort on vlogging personally (no AI Avatar) and reaching my exact audience with a specific targeted message, and encouraging them to react and engage with me so that we can make the dialogue more meaningful and productive on both sides.

Does anyone else have any points of view on this subject.

Have a great weekend ahead everyone!

Cheers

Alan

It's all about finding what works best for us as individuals Alan...

Depending upon our niche... I would recommend trying everything! Find out what works best then rinse and repeat my friend! :-)

Hi Nick, Thank you very much for taking the time to read and comment. I am thinking that I need to spend more time vlogging and less blogging, thats the conclusion i have come to cheers Alan

Most welcome Alan and all the very best moving forward my friend! :-)

Alan, you've put in an incredible amount of work in both blogging and vlogging!

Seeing how fast video connects with people compared to blog posts is a real eye-opener. In your niche, trust is everything, and keeping things personal instead of using AI makes total sense.

Excited to see how your vlogging focus pays off! ๐Ÿš€

All the best,

Boris
