Suddenly I lack enthusiasm and I don’t know why

You can’t imagine my joy when in February 2019 Kyle sent me a PM promising to make me a super affiliate.

When the moment came and I submitted my application, I prayed hard to be selected and felt like jumping through the clouds when the acceptance came.

During the first month of the SAC training lasting from April 2ndto May 20th, participants were supposed to perform the following tasks:

  • Be Active in chat 15 minutes per day (minimum)
  • Create at least one blog post on your WA Blog per week
  • Aim to help at least 5 people per day within WA
  • Write and publish 12 blog posts on their websites

Apart from failing to be active within chat and to help people, I achieved the following:

  • Created 8 blog posts on my WA blog during the 7 weeks
  • Wrote and published 14 blog posts on my website
  • Updated 4 posts and pages.

The first achievement is more than I had done during my 3+ years at WA. The second is also more than I have ever done in a single period on my blog. The third was not part of “the show.”

Considering these achievements, I felt that this time around I was finally going to succeed as an online marketer. So I waited patiently for the SAC second month material.

This arrived on May 21st and will run through to July 3rd2019. There are many tasks to accomplish but it’s now 10 days on and I haven’t done anything at all. This contrasts sharply with the first month when I had finished three pieces in this period of time.

Of course, I have finished doing some keyword research. I have other matters also ready to write about. But alas, I go on my computer ready to work, but end up just staring at the screen and dreaming aimlessly. This is unusual.

It’s true that I’m going through some financial crunches at the moment. But this is not the first time. Such a situation has usually acted as a catalyst but this time around something I can’t lay my hands on is derailing my progress.

I feel sad. I had wasted my time with the Affiliate Bootcamp Training and 3+ years on I have not much to boast about. Is history going to repeat itself?

I hope not.

Have you felt the same way sometime(s)? And how did you come out of it?

Thanks for your inputs to help me jump back into the race.

Well the only thing I can tell you is that you can do what you want , this is not a race and the only one you are competing against is your self , because if you don't like what your doing just change it , but as far as lacking enthusiasm , maybe you need a break for awhile and then come bak stronger. Thomas

Thanks for your comment. Really I don't view this as a race, for if I think people are ahead of me, surely there are many more behind me. Your description as a race against myself is more accurate. Thanks for the suggestion of a break.

I think the pressure is also coming from end of year exams of my students who will be sitting for the vocational school certificate exams soon. There was a lot of work to do, markring papers and trying to bring students' levels up to date.

I appreciate your input.

Happens to all of us. You can try changing up things. It freshens the mind. For example if you usually sit down to write in Site Content, try writing in the WordPress editor for a change or even better try writing with pen and paper.

If you usually write at home, try going to a cafe or somewhere else that has internet or even just another room in the house.

Another thing you could do is to "exercise" your mind by giving it a warm up. Vow to write 500 to 1000 words before you start writing for your business. Open up your email and pick an email. Respond to any email with a long response. You don't actually have to send the reply. You may even find that you have something that you can post somewhere but the aim of this exercise is to give your brain a workout to jumpstart your creative juices.

I learned this trick back when Wealthy Affiliate had a training called the 30 Day Article Marketing Challenge or something like that. I still use it whenever I get burnt out. After the "workout", take a short break and then switch to your boot camp task that you want to complete.

Hope these suggestions help because it's not a good feeling to be lacking enthusiasm in this business. All fails, take a break from it all and do something completely different from online business.

Hey Jay,

Now I know who you are when you reach out to me! Thanks for the nice words.

Yes, I will try changing up things since variety is the spice of life.

I listen a lot to soft jazz music but these past few days, I switch on my equipment and immediately switch if off again. This will astonish people who I boast to that music helps me to fight off boredom.

Apart from running my blog, I also write stories and poems. Maybeswitching between these activities could do the trick.

Thanks for sharing all those suggestions with me. Something is thawing in me although it isn't great joy yet.

I will keep you up abouthow I feel after this.

Thanks again.

Hi, Sometimes a break and a change of scenery is all that is needed to refresh yourself and achieve a change of mood, and return of enthusiasm, Alan

Alan, thanks for the input.Tomorrow I'm meeting my siblings. It's often time for some rewinding. Hopefully it will work.

DON'T YOU DO THAT AT ALL!
Do not even WAIST your time and energy for even a minute to think of knowing the WHYs!
Have ever DREAMT of going for a vacation with your family or traveling the world with them?
Have you ever thought of owning a brand new car or house of your own?
Have you ever owning a formidable world class business of your own where you could imploy your former boss?
Have you ever thought of the possibility of sacking your present boss because you don't need him any more? Have you considered the possibility of you being the one giving giving to that man who is today giving you and even paying his house rent?
These and more were my WHTs that are firing me up 247!
Let them be your WHAT and forget about all your WHY and have nothing to do with it any longer!
Only you can stop yourself from enjoying the BEST of life that God had designed for you to enjoy if can only refuse to quit because... "A QUITTER
will never win and a WINNER will never quit!"
CHEERS.

Thanks for your kind words of wisdom!

Of course I DREAM of going for a vacation with my family or at best traveling the world with them.

Sure, I always think of owning a brand new car or a majestic house of my own?

As for ever owning a formidable world class business of my own, that is what I'm trying to do here at WA.

I too will try to let these things fire me up 247!

Thanks for your words of comfort. I'm feeling good already.

Its my pleasure.
As a mater of fact I knew (my guess is) that you might NOT be the one that needed that my reply judging from the rich tone of the content body of your blog but still I chose to respond to your blog topic the way I did rather than to the blog content so that some in this family of WA who is experiencing that as I once did could benefit from how I survived at my own time of trials.
Good to that it was helpful to you too. Thanks for that your sharing.
Cheers.

When I am struggling to make any progress I break out of my funk when I remember to FOCUS on one task.

By doing focusing on one task instead of thinking of all the things I NEED to do it becomes easier for me to make progress.

As a result my outlook changes and my goals appear easier to accomplish.

You're right Jody4, I'm focusing on all I have to do for the second SAC month instead of taking the tasks one by one.

Thanks for this veryuseful piece of advice.
