I think there is a big panic in the blogosphere about guest blogging based on Matt Cutt's statement. However, it would be a huge disservice to everyone if people discontinued the practice altogether.

What Cutt's was saying and later reinforced is that he doesn't feel guest blogging is going away and shouldn't. He specified that you have to be careful who you choose to guest blog with (which you should be doing anyway) because people that blog with their only intention being to boost their rankings, are probably going to hurt your rankings. But guest bloggers that are doing it to build rapport with quality content should be fine.

But there is another hidden risk. If your guest blogger posts anything that is deemed as copyright infringement, you can still be held liable for it. Unless you have a DMCA disclosure AND have registered with the US copyright office, you are not covered if someone else posts something that may get your website flagged.

Please keep in mind the wholeness of the video or article. It is no longer considered good for SEO purposes, but has uses the are good too. I posted a blog a while ago about this. If I remember correctly it takes you to the same place Pro2100 sent you to, but the title of the article is a bit deceiving.
