Actions: The Vital Few vs. The Trivial Many.
One of the most dangerous traps both new and experienced business owners get themselves stuck in is the simple trap of mistaking activity for progress.
We're taught that we have to take massive action...
Do the work...
Consistently improve...
And work harder and be better...
All of which is true on the path to creating success.
The problem is is...
Often times people forget that not every action actually helps to move you towards your goal...
Not every action helps to solve the specific problems you're facing in your business...
And not every action helps to close the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
If you're trying to build a stronger chest and be able to do do more pushups...
No matter how many bicep curls you do and no matter how much energy you expend, you're not going to get any closer towards your end destination...
A stronger chest.
Yet this is what business owners do every day.
Their revenue and profit isn't where they want it to be, so start "doing more" and "trying harder" on all the wrong things.
They make their websites prettier...
Their sales funnels more advanced...
Their followup more complicated...
And in general, their business more of a pain in the a*s...
Only to get further and further away from their goals the harder they work.
I've seen it all too many times, and at times I've had the issue hold myself back.
The issue stems at a core level from having one fatal flaw in thinking...
"More is better".
When you always think more is better, when stuff goes wrong, you naturally want to do more, try more, be more, and so on.
The truth is that while more CAN be better SOMETIMES, it's only the truth when you're talking about first...
More of the right thing...
And second, more of that right thing, at the right time.
If you're just doing more, more, more, you'll spread yourself thin and in the end burn out.
If you're doing more of the right thing, and doing it at the right time...
You're then focusing on the vital few vs. the trivial many...
And you'll find that your actions cut through the "resistance" like a sharp knife through butter, as you watch your revenue and profit scale to the next level and beyond.

I agree, sharp focus on the few is much better than a wide view on many that's spread too thin and misses things.
Thank you, a good reminder.
You are correct massive action unless equally forward movement towards the goals is futile. Quality over quantity.
Amen Derek!
That also means in the right direction, otherwise we will just become part of the TL:DR bottomless pit or massive mountain, because its dimensions above and beyond the line of sight are like those of an iceberg.

Hi Gabriel, The most effective actions are definitely the ones to focus on, if you can work out which these are:-) Alan
