I’m the Awin affiliate network rep here at Wealthy Affiliate. If I can answer any questions about the Etsy program, please let me know.

Hi Jeannine!
I read that Etsy doesn't want your site to ONLY promote Etsy products. I would like to create a catalog website where yes there is a blog that you can check out, it's also like a product database/shopping catalog. Etsy has so many of the brands I am hoping to advertise, so I'm just looking for more insight on what they mean by that and how many products from other sites they want you to promote in addition to theirs. Thank you!!

Etsy doesn't work with catalog-styled websites, even with blogs. They are glad when their products are included in posts, but they don't want to be the sole subject of a site. There's no magic number of other products they will want to see discussed on your site. Perhaps consider something like an article about a single topic, with a few items from Etsy and at least as many items from another source.

Hi Jeannine,

Thank you for your response.

That's unfortunate. I thought that they provide a product feed to their affiliates so they can add products to their affiliate shops?

If you type in "etsy ced commerce affiliate" into Google, the first link should be the "Woocommerce Etsy Affiliate-Cedcommerce"

That is an example of one of the resources I found that seem to help you import products from the sources Etsy provides to their affiliates.

Also on their Awin merchant profile, it states, "Product Feed:

Affiliates have two feed options to choose from:

Option 1 – Awin Create-a-Feed
Download the Etsy product feed via the Awin interface using Create-a-feed which you can navigate to via Banners & Links > Create-a-Feed.
Option 2 – FusePump FeedCreator
If you require additional fields not supported by the Create-a-Feed categorization then the FusePump FeedCreator may be a suitable option for your site. FeedCreator offers additional download options and fields with more granular information.

To access, FeedCreator, please click the below link. You’ll just need to input your affiliate ID to start creating your feed. Your affiliate tracking will be incorporated so please ensure that you enter your affiliate ID correctly."

So I was under the impression they encourage their affiliates to showcase products.

This is more of a discussion we should discuss via private message, not on the Etsy listing. Send me a private message.

However, to clarify for everyone else, just because they have a datafeed doesn't mean that they want you to create a catalog-style site. It just makes showcasing individual products easier for some publishers. Etsy will still review each site on a case by case basis, and decide based on what they see whether they will accept you into their affiliate program.

Hi Jeannine,

I was just wondering if Etsy will reject a new website? I'm just starting here with my site and still working on training and content. However, I have an Etsy shop for my crafting business and I have more followers throughout my social media accounts and YouTube.

I didn't know if I should wait until I have more content to apply or go ahead?

Thanks for your information.

Hi Connie,

Etsy does prefer an established blog and will not just accept someone with a social media presence. I would wait until you have more content.

Best,
Jeannine
