Blogging - What to Write About?
Blogging is a thing that needs to be maintained, regularly: daily, a couple of time per week or no less than once per weekly for sure. If you have a website that relies on your blog posts to be the new relevant content then it is extremely important to get blogs written as often as possible. Maybe you are just trying to maintain your rank here at WA, that too takes dedication and blog posts, so get it done!
One thing I've heard time and time again is what will I write about? My answer to that is: if your niche is so limited that you think you are going to run out of things to talk about, then you need a different niche. And that is a very true and relevant point. If you don't have news enough to write in your blog a few times per week then you had better find a different niche to work with.
The internet is looking for constant new content. It ranks sites based a great deal on that new content, which is often in the form of a blog. If you expect your site to get ranked in the top listing and it is a "write it once and forget it" site, you are only about 20 years behind the times. That no longer works.
So what do you write about? ANYTHING!!
That is the beauty of a blog, it is extremely flexible. It only needs to be in the same category of your niche, but that is about all the restrictions you have. If you've run out of ideas Google your niche and see what other people have to say. You could even take a section from someone else's blog and add it to the bottom of a few sentences from you and you have a new post. Of course, if you use someone else's work then you need to credit them and link to them, but it could result in cross-linking.
I suggest you sign up for Google Alerts on the topic of your niche. That way you will be getting a daily email will all the new information for that day that is relevant to the keywords of your niche. It helps me deliver content, even when I can't think of a good idea. I use some of the things that have already been written about as a spring board for my blog topic for that day.
Happy Blogging!!!

You had me worried there for a minute when you suggested taking a piece of someone else's blog. I've heard if you just start SOMETHING, you brain kicks in.
I understand that people get scared working with someone else's work. But that is essentially what Huffington and other big publications do. Of course not on all of their articles, but many. And if you site and link to the original work you took it from it benefits both sides. I've seen this done very effectively for both the bigger publications and the small blogs too.
