Fireworks - A Whole New Take
I was just sitting outside and heard what sounded like fireworks off in the distance. Now that it is nearly June and living in the US, it isn't unusual to hear this sound as we move toward July 4th, but times have changed. It was a bit unsettling until a second one was heard, the second being more convincing as simply a firework.
Rethinking the Meaning of Fireworks
This time period across the world has led to significant unrest.
While fireworks are not a worldwide problem, given the racial riots in the US in the midst of a pandemic not quite fully under control, the wisdom of shooting off fireworks now or even on the 4th of July has me questioning even that tradition. Traditionally, it is a celebration of independence and freedom.
Now, more than ever, it seems this world could use a bit more interdependence.
Soothing Balm
There are many other troubled nations experiencing mass violence right now and it is unsettling.
I certainly appreciate that many have still tried to consider others in the middle of this, doing their best to remain calm and reasonably distanced but supportive.
Many of us could use something like a Spa Day right now, perhaps.

For those of you new to WA, I do hope you feel welcome to the community and that we are helping you find your way through the teachings. No matter what your circumstances, we hope that you find safety here and that your questions are answered.
Being somewhere in the middle of understanding how all this works, I was blessed to have a couple of questions quickly answered today and certainly appreciate the ease of finding support and the thoughtfulness of WAs members.
Just a Thought...
It seems the world could simply use a reprieve at the moment - that, or new beginnings.
May your beginnings, middles and endings be as smooth and peaceful as possible~

I agree Charlotte, in some areas fireworks going off must be terrifying.
They look pretty but they pollute the atmosphere, which is not good.

For those of us North of the border, Canada day is tomorrow. I moved away from Vancouver a few years ago but Vancouver city does fairly spectacular fireworks. As I was watching the news tonight I was proud to be from Vancouver. The protests remained calm, people rallied around downtown but had no March. EOthe3r areas of Canada got a bit more unruly. I hope for everybody's sake that the looters and violent protesters in various states get their act together. I understand and applaud their cause but their acting out is unnecessary.
