Who Do You Follow?

When you decide to do something, ANYTHING, you must do some research and learn how to approach this new venue...right?. Ask yourself, Who do You Follow?

Do You Follow Just Anybody?

I know that it's common to 'follow' someone on social media, yet, to what extent does this 'follow' help you?

Some people may choose to follow those who have achieved success as they view them as a source of inspiration and motivation. They may look up to these individuals as role models and seek guidance from their experiences and accomplishments.

On the other hand, others may choose to follow the person selling their concept on how to achieve success.

They may be drawn to the specific strategies, techniques, and advice being presented, believing that implementing these methods will increase their chances of success. These individuals may be more interested in the process and steps to success rather than the end result.

What type of follower are you?

Do you follow for the sake of following?

Or do you choose to follow those who can provide assistance, guidance, information or instruction that will help you to succeed?

When I signed up for Wealthy Affiliate, over 4 years ago, I started by following those who had the information that would help me to succeed, Like the WA founders, Kyle and Carson, Magistudios (Jay) who presents our weekly videos that are so helpful, etc.

When I came here to WA, it was with the intent to learn how to monetize my websites, and in doing so, I have met and / or exchanged ideas with many a member here.

I started to follow those who were helpful when answering questions, or chose to follow them because i read their blog article, or even their answers and comments on another member's blog or profile.

You, as a newcomer to Wealthy Affiliate, can provide us with some insight into why you are here, and is that reason enough that we should follow you (back)!

Yeah, that may sound harsh, but think about this for a minute or two.

When you sign up, you are asked to create a profile with an image and to provide some info about who you are and why you came to WA.

By doing that, you are demonstrating an interest in what we have to offer you here, and you are willing to explore the training, read other blogs, etc.

You may even write your first blog and/or get started with the fabulous Hub training.

Engage on the Wealthy Affiliate platform and get started on learning how to create an online business, and you will be amazed at what you can learn here.

So Who do I follow?

I'm not a friend collector. My time is precious, and I would much rather spend my time with those who are truly interested in taking advantage of the program here at Wealthy Affiliate.

I do understand that 'planting the seed' can inspire people at a later date. I'm all for that.

I appreciate the newcomers who choose to follow me. However, if your profile doesn't offer some sort of profile bio, or a 'first post', I will not follow you in return.

When you first arrive, I know there is a lot of stuff to look at, and it can be very overwhelming. So you gotta ask yourself the big question: Why did you come here?

And if you can answer that question, then get started with the Hub training. Reply to Kyla and Carson and whomever you followed to get here, chances are they have already welcomed you on your profile page!

Explore, ask questions, find something that interests you enough to realize that an upgrade to premium or premium plus is the next step.

Remember, you are INVESTING in your future!

Make it worth your while.

EXCELLENT post Rudy! I feel exactly the same. When I choose to follow someone here on WA, it is like you said... something they have posted, maybe a blog post or a comment to someone else's blog, or even just they have an interesting bio and have sparked my interest in their progress and success in the program, or in other words, they've inspired me through their words and their presumed reason(s) for becoming a member of WA in the first place. Following anyone here also means that your email will be getting more notifications when those you've followed post anything. To me, that is a significant factor, as I already have hundreds of emails a day to weed through to determine if it's something I want to invest more time into, or not.

Anyway, I very much appreciate this post and agree wholeheartedly! If I go to a newcomer's profile page who has followed me, and I see no bio information on the person and/or no goals listed, then I perceive that the person isn't really taking the platform seriously and they, (thus far at least) are showing me that they have little to offer in return were I to follow them back. There are many who have followed me initially upon joining, then I never see or hear from them again. They don't post any blogs or make any comments, there's just no activity from them whatsoever.

Thank you so much for this important, (I believe) post. It is very well stated, and certainly important.

Kevin

Well stated, Kevin. Exactly my feelings too, I just said it in fewer words...grin.

Thanks for sharing.

At first I was concerned about any flack I might have received, and instead have been impressed and surprised by the replies Ive received from my fellow members.

I hope this post is something that newcomers see as something positive for them to strive towards.

Thanks, Kevin.

Rudy

Thank you, and I completely agree. This was an excellent and NEEDED post, and I appreciate you sharing it with us!

You're welcome, Kevin!

Rudy

Good points, Rudy...when someone's profile is empty it make one wonder why they are here in the first place.

Susan

Thanks, Susan!

Rudy

I must admit that I follow everyone joining WA, Rudy! They should be welcomed in.

Jeff

I always welcome them to WA, Jeff.

I don't always follow.

Rudy

I understand, Rudy!

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff!

Rudy

You bet, Rudy!

Jeff

Yes same Rudy, I generally follow back when someone is active in the community, or who shows evidence of building a business. Empty profiles mean to me people who cant be bothered to state what they want, therefore are unlikely to follow through. I may be biased but hey so be it

Not biased at all. I wonder why some newbies follow me! ..grin. makes me wonder what they saw to want to follow me. Thats was what initiated my post here, I had two new followers that I welcomed, yet did not follow.

Granted, I have reciprocated once rhat person has posted, and continues to be a part of the community.

That shows a sign of commitment, and I will reciprocate, and even send them a quick message to let them know!

Hi Rudy

Generally speaking I’m a self-learner.

On WA I’m like you in that I don’t follow back members who leave their profile completely blank.

Frank 🎸

Yep. As mentioned in my teply to Catherine, Ive noticed when a newbie becomes engaged and starts writing posts or askes questions. Then I will return the follow!
