Behind the scenes - Creating a video tutorial

Kudos to those of you who have spent the hours to learn how to create a video!

I don't think I ever realized HOW LONG it could take to create a short video...

Then again, I can turn a 15-minute online video tutorial and turn it into a 3-hour project. Granted, I have done some tutorial videos before, yet for some reason, The one I just posted, 'Image Transfer - From cell phone to Computer' took me 8 hours....and that was just today.

So, the behind-the-scenes look.

Initially, I wanted to write out the tutorial and add a video....No, you have to select option #2 (WA style) to create a video, THEN add the text /image content...That was three days ago!

However, I had already written out the tutorial (option #1), spent time taking my own images, removing the background....now, that's out of order....grin...I took the pictures, then added the images, only to realize that they would look better as transparent images, THEN brought the images to remove bg to make transparencies, and THEN re-added the images.

That really only took about two hours to write and then do the images....Wait, did I say only two hours? No....the images I shot on my cell phone needed to be transferred to my computer, (lightbulb moment!!) and the video idea was created...

Except, I could not add a video to the (option #1), tutorial...

So, I dumped the video, deleted the tutorial, and was done for the day!

That was two days ago.

Yesterday, I spent about three hours of recording time with a program that had its own issues...apparently, there is a limit to the retakes before the program wants to hide...No really, the stop/start button disappears, so what I thought was a 5-minute video, ended up being about 90 minutes! What!!?

I stopped for lunch, then went back to see what I could do. Before you know it, I had to leave to go play pool in the league playoffs. We must have won the match because we play again next week. 9 Ball. I won my game. Yay!

So today, I was out of bed earlier than usual, made some coffee, and got started on finishing this dang video.

8 hours later, I've posted the video.

I use a paid version of Screencast-o-matic, and once I figured out the editing portion, I was off and running. I could stop and restart without having to do the entire video from the beginning, although I ended up doing so a few times only because I stopped shortly after starting, and it was easier to start over from scratch.

Ok, so the video is up, go check it out if you want to know how to transfer your images from the phone/camera to your computer.

Now, it's dinnertime...grin.

Great share Rudy. I like you how you finally transferred the images from your phone to the computer.

Great job! 👍

Myra

I have to transfer my phone images to get the full size, sending them from phone via email or text only sends a resized version.

Thanks for stopping by!

Good one, Rudy!
I'm glad you walked away, and then came back to finish your video!

Thanks, Barb...

The more you play with your video editor the better you get :) You'll develop a pattern to making your content and find plenty of shortcuts.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks!
