Don't Fry Your Brain with AI
Becoming Too Lazy with A.I.?
Artificial Intelligence is one of the greatest tools of our time—but let’s face it, it’s also making many of us lazy.
We used to search for answers, now we just ask a bot. We used to write, design, calculate, brainstorm… now it’s all auto-generated. While A.I. is amazing, we’re starting to rely on it like a crutch. People are skipping the thinking part, the learning process, the effort—and it’s slowly draining our curiosity and creativity. That’s dangerous.
Here’s the truth: A.I. should be an assistant, not a replacement for your brain. If you let it do all the work, your mental muscles shrink. Just like the body, the mind needs exercise. When you stop thinking critically, stop trying new things, stop challenging yourself, you start fading—not growing.
But you can fight back.
Use A.I. as a launchpad, not a final product. Let it spark ideas, then go deeper yourself. If it gives you a list—rewrite it. If it solves a problem—question it. Don’t just copy and paste—adapt, reshape, make it yours.
Learn from what it creates. Ask why it chose certain words. How could it be improved? Push yourself to think more, not less.
Most of all, stay curious. A.I. will only ever reflect what already exists—but your passion, your imagination, your effort—that’s what makes something great.
So use A.I., yes.
But don’t become lazy.
Become sharper, wiser, and more intentional. Let it fuel your fire—not replace it.
Because in the end, your brain is still your most powerful tool.

You are absolutely right. AI always asks at the end of each reply something like 'Would you also like me to do X or Y? Since it's offering to do something, it's easy to get lazy. 'My' ChatGPT has become my tutor and mentor. It knows that I want to learn to do things myself so it has been patiently teaching me Canve, formatting a book for KDP etc rather than just generating things for me.
I can see where someone could begin to rely on AI too much and lose their on “voice”. We each need to be watchful to not let that happen. Thanks for this reminder. -Shirley
We have to keep that human connection. When you see what is trending on YouTube and other social sites, it is original content.
Thanks

I didn’t know the first thing about AI two months ago. I am just now learning how to use it. You are correct… I can understand how it could make a person lazy. I like what you said about questioning it. This will help me tremendously as I’m learning to use it more..

Absolutely agree, Stevoi. AI is a powerful tool, but if we stop thinking for ourselves, we lose what makes our work original and meaningful. It’s easy to let technology take over, but real growth comes from questioning, adapting, and building on what’s handed to us.
I like your point about using AI as a launchpad rather than a shortcut. The real value comes when we add our own perspective and curiosity into the mix. At the end of the day, it’s the human touch, our effort, ideas, and creativity, that sets our work apart.
Great reminder to stay engaged and keep challenging ourselves, no matter how advanced the tools get.

Yes, defining and refining the work done by AI separates good content from the also ran stuff.
