Please - someone help and explain this to me

our WA keyword tool...i enter a phrase and it gives me a quoted search return with 97 results that match all on one page. all the way at the bottom it says the following phrase

"In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 97 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included."

doing that gets me a ridiculous # of results...so i pen up a fresh google window and type in the same exact phrase in quotes and instead of 97 results i get almost 1.9 million!!! what is the WA keyword search tool showing me...and how does a google user filter his/her account to return the 97 and not the 1.9 million.

per the WA keyword tool, i am ranked #1 on google for a specific search phrase out of 7 total results...now when i that THAT specific phrase into a fresh google window, it comes up truly as 7 total results, where the phrase from the above paragraph multiplied exponentially in results from a fresh google window.

to further complicate my interpretation of this data, i looked at a 3rd search phrase (in quotes -- all of this is based on quoted searches)...now per WA key tool, i am ranked #1 on google out of 48 results for this 3rd phrase...BUT, when i go to a fresh google window, i do not see that there are ridiculously more results nor do i find the exact same # of results. instead, on this 3rd phrase i find that yes indeed i am #1, but #1 out of 144,000 not 48!!!

i need this explained to me. does the WA keyword search truly represent what a user will find when he/she does a google quote search from home?

what is the phrase that comes up on so many of my WA key tool searches about omitting results?

and another case...in WA key quotes searches, the when the tool shows between 101-199 search results it takes you automatically to the 2nd page of results. when you click page 1 or previous, it takes you to a page that has a ridiculous # of results on it for the same exact quoted phrase, where i'm expecting you wind up on a page 1 with results #1-100, not over 100k in results

i apologize if this is covered somewhere and i have missed it. i have not been a member even 1 month so i am still reading and learning.

thank you in advance to anyone who can help me understand

If you want an expert to talk to for keyword result see splashducks tutorials and he has a cheap fee too he is very genuine he is on my follow

oh!!! this is the first time that I heard that similar results does not matter that makes things more clear for me, Thanks again, you are great as always.

Welcome Kymee

The first result that you see from the WA keyword tool is the correct number. The 1.9 million result includes all of what Google terms "similar results". I have no idea how Google determines what is similar but I do know that when it comes to competition the similar results are NOT relevant.

If you go to the bottom of the Google results screen and click through the result pages until you reach the end of the results you will see 9 or 10 pages. With 10 results per page you will see that the WA tool's results are quite accurate.

As for showing #1 on the Google results. It is possible that the Google personalization of search is skewing the results that you see. If you do the same search in Chrome, find the Incognito window and your personalized results will be removed. This will give you an accurate picture of your search results. FireFox calls it Private Browsing and it is found on the tools menu.

wow, that is really very helpful...thank you for taking the time and giving us the courtesy...awesome info!

lol, just did the incognito search and i am indeed #1 of 144,000!!! which is awesome, though completely unintentional...if WA key tool had shown me 144k i never would've bothered with that phrase at all

Well Congratulations. That is huge.

thanks, good tutorial...but saying that it is not 100% accurate is a huge understatement in a few of the examples i provided and it also does not explain how a google user can engage a filter that does the omitting similar results that the WA keyword search tool often does in the "view results" tab.

and i am happily surprised, yet surprised and bewildered all the same that WA keyword shows me #1 of 48 but when i open my own google and search same phrase in quotes i am #1 of 126,000....again, very happy, but unsure how WA key search could be so wrong...and not have the "omitting results" disclaimer in this particular case?
