Giving it another try...the right way!!
Hey everyone, I was browsing the web about an hour ago and came across WA. I got inspired instantly. I signed up, received my welcome email from Kyle, completed my profile, looked around the discussions and decided to introduce myself....so...here I am!!
About 4 years ago (when I was very young and very inexperience), I was looking online for a 'work at home' business idea that i can supplement my current income and help pay for my college. I came across "how to become a virtual assistant", I checked a few websites out and did a little research ( way too little) and I taught " Hey, I can do this virtual assistant thing! I can write, read and I was already working as an office assistant...so perfect!"
I jumped into it right away. I went crazy! I wanted to offer every single service that I can. I figured if I don't know how to do a particular service, I will eventually learn it as I go. After about 8 months of 'running around like a headless chicken" and wasting a lot of time and money on start up equipment (printer, laptop etc) I didn't make a cent! I was very discouraged and resentful of the whole "make money online" thing. So I quit!
Afterwards, I realized the reasons why I failed was 1) I didn't have a website and was relying on local businesses to purchase my services 2) at that time I was living on a very small island in the Caribbean and not a lot of people were familiar with virtual assistant services or can afford it 3) I had no experience what so ever with computers and internet related stuff 4) I did little to no research which was a bad idea. So I taught, maybe I should give this another try. Anyway, a few years went by without me doing anything about it.
Early last month (Sept 2013), I was browsing the web and came across internet and affiliate marketing and it instantly caught my attention. Ever since then I've been researching day and night. I've been listening to youtube videos, I joined a few forums, read articles, blogs , did a lot of Google searches and even went and bought a book on web marketing. I would like to learn as much as I can before I start so that I do not make the same mistakes again.
After weeks of research, I am at the stage of selecting a niche (which is very challenging for me). I am very excited about it but also very nervous. I am not nervous about failing again, (because I've already made the decision to focus on one thing, learn as much as I can, take it slow and dont give up) I am nervous about not having any experience with online marketing and all the technical stuff involved with it.
I am so excited about joining WA and looking forward to Kyle's "Getting Started" course. I will also be asking a lot of questions and I hope you guys don't mind. lol
So...here's to my "2nd try'!! Wish me luck guys

Welcome :) We're a good crew here, and always around to say Hello and How do?
I'm a returnee as many of us are. I was originally here for about 9 months, but due to finances and family upset (lost my dad) had to quit for awhile. Now things have settled, I'm back at Premium (join that asap) and am making headway. Very happy, and not about to leave again unless dragged by electronic chains!
So off to think about bed, try once again to take a look at new updates for one of my sites, and then get ready for another day.

I am sorry to hear about your dad. My deep condolences.
I am genuinely looking forward to trying again. Although I am nervous lol. But I am guessing a lot of people were nervous when they first started because of lack of experience.

Indeed. And time with experience are the best teachers of all. Just keep your mind open and watch the miracles take place :)
My dad-he had cancer. The good part was it hit him fast and hard-so a bare 3.5 weeks from diagnosis to death. No long, drawn out suffering. My voice on the phone (my mom held the phone to his ear) was the last thing he heard. We hung up, 5 minutes later, gone. I think he was waiting for that reassurance...
For some reason I am not getting to reply to you last comment (maybe because I don't have premium I am guess). So sorry about you dad once again. I am really glad you got a chance to say good bye. You are a strong man

Dont even sweat it. You are now a member of Wealthy Affiliate. Years ago I did everything I could to find bad reviews of WA I couldnt find one single bad review. Just remember WA has more info than most University courses. Im wishing you absolute good luck, Also have fun
