My name in Hebrew
Some of us know the story of the prophet Yonah, Jonah is a derived version of it, the meaning of it is dove.
It is a Hebrew name, Coming from one of the books of the Tanakh, It tells the story of this person, The Hebrew word is read from right to left, displaying only four letters: Yod, Vav, Nun, Hey.
Although the Hebrew language does not use vowels, the Vav with the little point on top of it takes the sound of an "O".
One can ask why there is no A written in it, as mentioned above the basic Hebrew aleph-beit does not uses vowels. As children or other students are starting to learn, the sounds are given by the teacher and the students are instructed to memorise the sounds that accompagnon the words.
Why then a whale in the picture, when it means dove? For this i can only encourage the people whom are interested and don't know to read the full story in a short version on http://biblehub.com/library/marshall/the_wonder_bo... ... The complete version of the story: http://www.chabad.org/library/bible_cdo/aid/16183/...
The female form of Yona is Yonina

Very interesting. Here in Thailand they are all about the vowels. They can't seem to put enough of them into a word.
Interesting Blog. Got me looking at the meaning of my name. I think this will be a great thing to research further when I get some time!
Ontcijferen naam: Loes
Geschreven in het Hebreeuws met de letters Lamed, Vav, Aleph en Samech
Lamed herdersstaf, is een leidinggevende eigenschap en tegelijk beschermend
Vav verbind allerlei dingen
Aleph weer leidinggevend, voortrekker, initiatief nemend
Samech betekent in de oorspronkelijke betekenis, zegenen, ondersteunen.
Conclusie: Jou naam betekent een leidend, beschermend persoon, die het goede met de mensen voorheeft die onder hun invloed staan.
For the English speaking persons, after a short study of the name, Loes means a leading, protective person, who has the best intentions for the people in their range of influance.
