Progress Update

So far so good.

I chose what appears to be a viable niche market, at least based on my keyword research thus far. It's a little bit of an edgy niche, but one that I believe has a tremendous amount of potential. I've chosen to create content within the marijuana cultivation niche. Before you react negatively, let me explain my rationale:

• 7 states, plus the District of Columbia have legalized recreational use of marijuana
• 21 more states have legalized medical use of marijuana
• Many other states have decriminalized possession of a small of marijuana

In short, there's definitely a trend towards legalization. With this, undoubtedly, will come a uptick in interest of growing your own. The very same phenomenon happened when brewing your own beer at home became legal.

There are a huge amount of companies selling growing supplies (lights, tents, etc) offering potential for affiliate referrals and commissions.

The one challenge with this niche is the public perception of it - it's a little bit edgy, as I've said.

I've begun targeting some low hanging fruit keywords though a few posts. I just installed google analytics so I'll be able to see how I do.

My goals in the next 3 months are to begin getting ranked on the low hanging fruit keywords and to get some consistent traffic, no matter how small.
