What's in a name.

I wonder sometimes how important it is to have a unique or catchy domain name. It seems to me that a lot of time and effort can be squandered on finding that perfect name, rather than doing more important things like website optimization (or SEO); that are more likely to produce tangible results.

I think some of the proof for this can be found and successful websites that employ gibberish in their domain names, seemingly on purpose. Examples of this or websites like Google, Etsy, or Twitter. Of course when you're launching a website that is trying to be competitive, or just being seen to the degree that you can make the website profitable, a domain name may very well have an impact on your bottom line.

Anyhow, those are my thoughts out loud. I was just wondering would some of you think about this topic.

Just pick something to get going. First, I'd get my name.com. if I could. Then start thinking about your area of interest. How about PrepperPete.com or PeteThePrepper.com or PreppingWithPete.com. Your name and your interest are an alliteration, which makes them sound good together and memorable, the things you want in a web name. Hope it helps, but you've probable figured that all out already. Best of luck.
