Discovering Wealthy Affiliate My Journey

My name is Wynand and I'm a South African living in Taiwan. I started wealthy affiliate about a month ago and got to the stage where I need to share my story. Buckle up and I hope you enjoy this short read.

My niche is my passion

Coffee. Coffee is my passion and my obsession. So naturally that became my niche. Coffee being what it is, I quickly discovered that my niche is over saturated beyond belief. This soon became troublesome and a major de-motivator in my progress. Learning to think outside of the box truly helped me find a way to circumnavigate the competing websites by targeting unique keywords with plenty of traffic. So I stuck it with it and I'm still going strong.

How do you spell overwhelmed?

The perfect word to describe my experience so far is "overwhelmed." I was under no impressions that this would be an easy feat, but I was sorely underestimating the slope of learning ahead of me.

Affiliate marketing - actually - building a website is more challenging and draining that I could have ever imagined. I always took the content I was reading online for granted. Never really understanding that someone out there had to create that content at some point.

Keyword searches upon keyword searches really had my mind in a frenzy. Thinking up a relevant keyword search that fits your criteria really forces you to think outside of the box. Thinking outside of the box is something that I've always had a tough time doing. So this was like mental exercise for me.

Google gave me motivation

After about three weeks of training and writing posts I became despondent. My posts and my website were not being indexed by google. At that point I was also battling with a difficult post so I just had this urge to give up. Which I did. For two weeks. I felt terrible about it.

Over this past weekend, however, I received an email from WA informing me that my site had been indexed by google!! I can't even begin to describe that feeling of relief and excitement. But I'm sure most of you have felt that way before, assuming you've been doing this longer than I have.

This indexing gave me a whole new gear in my motivation. I feel motivated, dedicated and driven. I feel like the only thing that can stop me now is me, but this time I won't let myself do that to me.

Next few months are gonna be fun

I've found some great keywords that I'm dying to try out in the upcoming months. They're far more hands than the normal posts I've written.

I'm currently in the process of moving to Taipei, Taiwan from Taichung. In Taipei, I'm looking forward to my own space, in which I can start dabbling in photography and videography for my website.

So over the next few months I obviously plan to write more posts for my website. I also plan on maybe starting a YouTube channel to link videos to and from my website and to help with the guides I offer. I'm hoping by month six to have gathered a decent amount of traffic on my website that could earn me some money.
