When I was searching a good site name with Jaaxy, I find one with good ranking possibilities and Jaaxy says Great, but after verification I find a lot of site with .edu and .go

In my opinion, if you like the name but the domain doesn't rank anytime soon,,, you can still have individual posts in your site that will rank.

Thanks Guy for your answer. Yes you are right and I will work to rank my posts as best as I can.

It depends on your niche. If your site offers something completely different and you want the name for yourself, then go for it anyway.

You might get some extra traffic if you're getting a dot com because people often forget to put edu or .gov in the URL.

However, bear in mind that it could be more difficult to establish your brand if others are using the same name with different TLD extensions. ~Jude

Thanks Judebank for your quick answer. In fact I have bought a domain that is a nice keyword for my niche. The .com is no more available. So I bought .org and .net

The only same url than mine is the .com (under construction) and all the other ones are different domains ( in.edu or .gov or other), but using part or all of my exact domain as keyword... (Dont know if I am clear enough !)

So will it be harder to rank with those .edu or.gov sites ?

The domain name is not a factor (you have the same name...lol, just a different extension).

Those other sites might have a competitive advantage if they are already high authority sites with lots of quality content and traffic and you are just starting out - but that has nothing to do with the domain name.

Quality content is more important for ranking than a keyword in a domain name. . The important thing is to provide quality content and follow the best on-site and off-site SEO practices. ~Jude

Yes thanks for the very usefull answer ! I better understand now ;)
