Cannonball or Can-opener?

I think that there's a lot of truth to the idea that if you can name something, it loses its power over you...i.e., a known quantity is much easier to work with.

There really are a lot of "non-gurus" vying for headspace. And it does take some "fight" to pull yourself up to a standing position. Starting out here as an absolute complete newbie in this industry, while simultaneously facing down the considerable consequences of this shutdown, has already required me to go pretty deep in order to help myself to catch on to things you need to keep in mind before you hit the ground running

For example, I'm in the process of getting my first website up. Though the process itself isn't hard to grasp, thanks to Kyle's excellent teaching skills, I also realize that that first "live" post is going to set the parameters for where I go with the whole site on into the future.

WA training wisely emphasizes goals at the beginning. For me, it's important to step back right now and think about the pathway my niche wants to go down. Sure, I want to write something compelling, but I don't want to rush headlong out of the gate without having all my markers in view so I have an idea where I'm going with it.

When you think of it, we get to learn some fantastic skills that essentially will be putting us live in front of millions of people. That's where the gumption comes in! We speak to our specific audience via our niche. The foundation for doing that here is the website. On top of that, we have other platforms to help maximize traffic to our sites. At this point, having really clearly identified your goals is a must. Understanding your purpose is crucial to success in so many things in life, and this feels no different.

Those childhood memories of summer at the pool LOL: enjoying yourself thoroughly until somebody does the inevitable CANNONBALL!! That's not what I want to do here...instead, I hope to write a first posting that weaves together my values with a beneficial visitor experience and an introduction to a concept that will allow for regular build-out into the future.

So, here's a shout-out to all of my fellow WA-ers for the courage you bring to the pool. Doing this is not easy for some of us... but doing it well can sure help open up a can-do trajectory ahead!
