WA Search Box

The search box for WA isn't horrible. It isn't great either. You don't get to search through pages of results. Instead, you only get one page of results, containing about 16-20 results, give or take. You have to keep trying different search terms and you might hit the jackpot and you might not.

I entered "how to search" in the box, and I didn't get one result about how to search on WA. It leaves a LOT to be desired in a search tool.

If I would have entered, "how to search wealthy affiliate," I would have gotten at least one example of something helpful. The point is, that you have to keep trying search string after search string, in order to find what you're looking for, and then you STILL might miss a great post, because it doesn't fall within whatever 20 or so results the search engine spits out. The results aren't even arranged chronologically, so you might get results from 2012. You can't go back to your list of results without entering the entire search string back in again, either.

There's A Great Alternative!

Did you know that you can search the contents of a website with Google? Yes, you can!!

You can see below, that I did a search for long tail keywords on the Wealthy Affiliate site. I got over 200 results, approximately 10x more results than given by the WA search tool.

Happy searching, and I hope you find a lot of great information!

wowsa! that's something I have to try out as I think search here has got even smaller since the new ux, at least in the past I thought we got a much longer list except there always was the problem that once you opened something then you had to go type in the search term again to bring up the list again to get onto the next thing...was hoping that'd get fixed but still waiting

I see Carson has a suggestion on using the training center, I have just gone in there and tried searching for domain email because I've a good training on that and I'm aware of many bad ones that won't see people set up at all, hm...results bit surprising though I suppose you could say it's throwing up more than the search bar!

Thanks for your comment, Mary! I'm glad to help.

Thanks! I had the same issue several times.
Your solution will help!

I'm happy to help!

Thank you for sharing this, Laurie. I'll be using it a lot in the future.

Thanks, Marion! I'm glad that someone sees the value.

Hey Laurie,

If you're looking for training, you can use the Training HQ found here:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training

This is accessible through the "Training" menu.

If you've got a question, then you can click on the "Help Center" from the main menu, then "Ask a Question". You'll likely get answers to your questions within minutes of posting, so this is definitely the place to look.

Furthermore, if you're after help on a specific topic, you can check out the "Classroom" section of WA (also found under the training menu).

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/classrooms

You can jump into classrooms and browse for help there. A "Question" search could be definitely helpful within Classrooms, so I'm going to put this in as a future update request :)

Carson

Thanks, Carson! Those are always alternative methods of finding information, of course, but I was concentrating on the search box, which is front and center, and the only thing that someone actually sees on the front page.

As far as update requests go, I would like to see a link, in the help center, that describes all of the different ways to search for information at WA.

Also in that help center, would be a link to the rules of behavior for the WA.

99% of questions could be answered if these two links could be added. Have you noticed how many blogs are written about what is or is not the rule for x, y, or z here at WA? Why make people search for information about searching? Why not make the rules easily accessible, so there is more discussion about content, rather than the rules?

Just my 2 cents worth. :-)
