6 Month Badge and Some Progress!

Six Month Badge

I logged in this morning and was greeted by the message that I had earned my 6th month badge here at WA. Go me!!

I've been kind of frustrated that I haven't been able to find any meaningful data about my website so far, but today I scored.

The NEW Search Console

I was looking at my Google search console results, and not really getting much from them, as usual. I'm not a visual person by nature. Graphs and charts don't really do it for me. I know. It's a bit counterintuitive, considering what we do here, but I have to force myself to get meaning form graphs and charts normally.

I saw a link to the NEW Google search console, and I decided to click it. What a difference it made!! I could see at a glance, key information, while not having to try and decode the charts and graphs.

The total Clicks and Total impressions are nice, but it was the Average Position, at the far right that caught my attention. The ranking position for all of my pages is averaged together, and it shows that I'm at a 41.4 position... which is somewhere on page 4 for the average.

Then I found the compare button on the page, where I could compare different time periods. SCORE! This is meaningful data to me.

I can see improvement. That's the holy grail, as far as I'm concerned. I compared the current 28 day period to the previous 28 day period, and my rank is improving. Although, I'm not sure why my total impressions dropped.

My Site Is 6 Months Old

It may be six months old, but I have significantly reduced the number of posts per week that I've been able to do. I'm sure that if I was churning out the 3 posts per week, my numbers would be better. But, I'm moving more slowly. I can't handle doing that many posts per week, so the numbers will suffer. That being said, they're still going in the right direction! That's all that matters, because now it is just a matter of continuing to do what I'm doing. Eventually, I'll hit a ranking on page 1.

It's A Long Game

I've always known it's a long game, but this is the first solid data that I've gotten that makes me start to feel like I've got this.
