I Need A Spotter

See that guy in the picture? He's a spotter. He's there to observe and assist, to make sure that the woman who is working with the weights doesn't hurt herself. She may think that she's doing everything correctly, but he's there, just in case something goes wrong, to help her and put her back on track.

Am I Misunderstanding?

I am nearing the end of my fourth month, working on my blog. As you can see, I started it on March 21.

I have yet to rank on Google for any of my posts, so I decided to go back and take a look at the training. Maybe I'm misunderstanding everything? Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Online Entrepreneur Certification - Level 2 : Lesson 3 of 10

I looked at the keyword magic formula that Kyle has in the training, and I found that I was slightly misunderstanding it, but not in a way that made much difference. Here is the formula:

Here is a list of all of the keywords that I have used in my posts. All of the keywords with the red tick marks indicated that those keywords match the "winning" criteria. There are a couple of blue marks indicating that they are very close. So I think I'm doing pretty well with my keywords. Sometimes I write a tutorial, and I have a hard time finding the right long-tail key word that matches it, but those are just the breaks. I'm not going to structure my content around the keywords. . . I have to find keywords that match the content. Otherwise, my content is not relevant or helpful, especially when my site is really heavy on the tutorials.

What else am I misunderstanding?

I should be seeing at least one of my posts ranking very very soon, right? I'm at the end of month 4. I have a respectable number of posts, that are high quality. I'm using keywords correctly. So what's going on? Then I ran across this . . .

Online Entrepreneur Certification - Level 2 : Lesson 7 of 10

Take a look at this screen shot from the training (which is WAAAAAY out of date, btw)

The Jaaxy results are the same as what Google reports, in Kyle's example. Now look at mine. I chose one of my keywords, which has a QSR of 88.

When put the same search string into Google, the results are. . . what??

I'm definitely misunderstanding something here.

So Where Am I??

  • I'm at the end of my 4th month, heading into the 5th month of my blog.
  • I have not ranked on Google yet for any of my posts.
  • I think I'm doing a pretty good job picking keywords for my posts, but I think I may be misunderstanding some things about Jaaxy.

Could Someone Spot Me, Please?

I could use some advice from someone who has been where I currently am.

Hi Laurie

The reason google show 56 million results in that last image, is because (like Marion said) it was not inside "xyz" quotation marks.

It looks like you are doing well! I spotted a few posts that interests me and I'll leave a comment on your website. I was JUST wondering about Elementor - so I'm very happy to see that you seems to know it. Looking forward to learn from you about that. ;-)

Wishing you all of the very best!

Thanks for your encouraging comments. If you need any help with Elementor, let me know :)

I think what you may be missing is Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI).

QSR stands for quoted search results which are the results in Google if your search term (keyword) is enclosed in quotation marks. It's an indication of how much competition is out there but it's not completely accurate as Google uses Latent Semantic Indexing to rank posts. Bing and Yahoo use QSR.

LSI is using artificial intelligence to "read" what a post is about. Instead of ranking for only one keyword or phrase your post is considered for lots of different phrases and assessed on how helpful it is to Google's searchers.

Your keyword phrase is your target but what you write to help people who are searching for that keyword is what gets your post ranked.

It's a bit hard to explain here but if you search for LSI you may find a better explanation.

Thanks for the information, Marion. Do you think that I might rank soon?

Are you getting any traffic from Google? If so, your posts are already ranking. Check on Search Console > Search Traffic > Search Analytics > Queries.

According to this image, it says three clicks, but if you look at the list of queries, there is only one click. I guess this is a beginning?

Yes, it starts off slow. That long list of search queries shows what your posts are ranking for. It's just that it takes time to climb up the rankings and get the clicks. Keep adding more content and you'll get more Google-love.

Understand the problem.

I'm afraid that I don't understand your comment.

Sorry my English, I understand why you need a spotter, does that explain things a little easier!

Yes :)

You seem to be doing a good job of assessing Laurie

Thanks. I wish I understood the Jaaxy discrepancy better. Then again, I wish Kyle had updated images in the training too. lol
