Rank-Osis and Paying it Forward in My Wealthy Affiliate

Yes, I thought I was paying it forward correctly, but every day since Carson posted the new ranking criteria –five days ago—my rank has stayed the same. Conclusion: I am no longer paying it forward. Not only that, but I have developed a case of rank-osis, a newly coined word by none other than myself. Rank-osis refers to a mild form of paranoia—thoughts you get when your rank just sits there: “I’m just not good enough for my wealthy affiliate.” or “I fall short of the mark for helping others.”

Despite some of the criticism of the ranking system, I for one care about it, believe in it, and want to be the best that I can be in this pay-it-forward community. Now, that is not why I signed up, but it is why I stayed. I believed that I could learn enough from other members of the community using their trainings and blogs to make a success of it.

So, why is my rank not moving? I went back to Carson’s announcement of the new ranking system. Here’s a recap of “Ambassador Ranking for 2017 Update: Pay-it-Forward”.

WHAT TO DO

Be the rescuer:

  • Answer the questions in Chat with helpful, thorough, and accurate information or refrain from responding.
  • Answer the questions in Comments made in response to a particular training or a WA blog.
  • Answer the questions generated by the Pen Icon and the Search Bar.
  • If you know where the answer can be found, respond with a reference to that location.

Use the following platforms to generate discussion and raise more questions:

  • WA blog posts. Report on your success, journey, or website. Respond quickly, thoroughly, and accurately to comments and questions. Remember that the “quality and usefulness” are considered for ranking, not the fact that you made one.
  • Training. When you have been in Premium for three months, create training for areas that are lacking in training. Training should be “unbranded, unique, thorough, high quality, and promotion free.” Support this training by quickly responding to questions or comments.
  • Ask questions. No, it is not the number of them that counts; it is the quality of the question and its ability to stimulate conversation.

Increase your activity:

  • Visit as many WA blogs and trainings as possible. That’s where the answers are.
  • Support your WA blog posts by responding fully to comments and questions.
  • Follow up on those notifications that alert you to activity by those following you, review the activity, and comment on it. The number of followers you have is not going to mean much if you are not helping them.

I suspect that I am not asking enough questions. Let’s face it; I am timid about asking questions, because I don’t want anyone to think I am stupid! It is far better to think of ourselves as just being ignorant and smart enough to know when to ask. Second, I don’t know enough yet to sufficiently answer them.

You get the picture. The more you learn, the more helpful you can be. The more helpful you are, the closer you come to being successful and an Ambassador. My hope is that you will aspire to become an Ambassador, as described by Carson, remembering that it is the journey that means the most. Let’s all dig in and help each other by paying it forward! Please refer to Carson’s “Ambassador Ranking for 2017 Update: Pay-it-Forward” for clarification and information on what does not count.

Thanks for the good tips. Great stuff to keep in mind.

You are welcome.

Great post, I had no idea how the ranking worked, so you helped me and hopefully, soon I will be able to pay it forward also

I am glad I was able to help. Thank you and the best of luck as you journey through Wealthy Affiliate. You have the right attitude.

You are right that RANKING motivates you to stay. Besides, WHO WOULDN'T LOVE TO BE NUMBER ONE?

But I believe the fact that, being in now moment will see your ranking moving faster. We all started far below the rankings but in time, we are now were we supposed to be and continuing.

I believe in helping others below my RANKING than looking others who are far above my RANKING simply because recognising the now moment is very important.Yesterday gone and we take our lessons from it, tomorrow is just a promise that lest you with only TODAY.

If we don't hold on to what we have NOW and be content with it we are giving wrong signal to the universe period.

I think, our reality comes from within our being not without. in other words and an example; people who win Lottery and lost it in few years were not rich inside themselves before getting rich outside.

If your riches started from inside out, that riches will be everlasting. HOW CAN WE GET RICH INSIDE OUT? Helping others to grow means helping yourself because giving goes hand in hand with receiving, they are two side of a coin. If there is no giving there will be no receiving and reciprocal too, If we don't know how to give, we will never learn how to receive period. See all this shall come to pass and you will soon see yourself in ambassador position.

How beautiful you put all of that. Helping does not come easily to a lot of people. They have to work at it, but once they get into the habit they find themselves feeling better about themselves. That is the ultimate reward.

And you brought up a good point about receiving. Some folks just shun help, wanting to do it all themselves. Look what they are missing!

Thanks for responding

Hi Tanya, many thanks for such a concise round up of Carson's ranking summary. I can relate relate to the wariness you describe about putting one's self forward, I am sure that as you move forward you will feel more comfortable to do this.

I keep reminding myself that this is the best arena I will find to 'practise' all the things that I know will need to do in the 'real' world! This drives me forward to try things in very supportive environment with people to call on to drag me out of the holes I keep falling into. Looking back I see that I am certainly moving forward, even if it doesn't feel like it at times!

Keep going and if there's anything I can help with just shout, even a chat! Onwards and upwards, Sue :)

Thanks for your response, Sue. You are right about falling back. It is easy to get overwhelmed with so much to do. I have a tendency to go into too many directions at one time, and that can do me in for a while. You are also right about this being the best arena to learn in and I say that based on what so many other people are saying about Wealthy Affiliate.

You keep going also. It is good to hear from you and to get the offer of help.

Something I've posted about recently Tanya. It's something we are all getting over. Your map of forward progress is excellent!

Yes, you did, but I missed it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I retrieved it and it was great. Thanks for the compliment.
