My Amazing 10-minutes workout that works like Magic

Happy Tuesday or Wednesday or Monday night, depending on where you are in the world. Here in South Africa, Zeerust it is early hours of the morning.

I did not know what to really;y share on the blog this morning, but while I was staring at my Sandalwood Candle which I light every Tuesday ritual of my six days pillars of Self-esteem practice rituals, I was reminded of the importance of self-acceptance.

Last year in 2020, I had gained weight and had some fat sagging belly around my waist. I have moved from size 28 or 71cm waist to size 32 or 76cm. The feeling of waking up in the morning and the shortness of breath were unbearable for me.

In one morning when I was staring at my Practice of Self-Acceptance Candle, I was thought about how I could practice this concept in my life. While I was completing a sentence stem

If I am more accepting of my body ____________ (complete sentence with 6 endings)

I would be honest I am gaining weight

I would admit to myself that this is not a good way to care for myself

I would be honest to myself that I have gotten out of shape

I would be more concern about the health implications of a fat belly

I would pay more attention to my own body

I would make time to hit the gym and stop all excuses


These were some completion and thoughts that came through my mind.

SELF-ACCEPTANCE IS THE FIRST STEP TO CHANGE

Self-acceptance does not mean "liking" or "enjoying" or "condoning" any behavior or state of being. It is accepting what is as it is and being aware of the facts.

I must honestly admit that in the past 50 years, I have never been more than 65kg and size 30 (74cm). I have always had an athletic great looking body and always ate healthy.

In 2020, I changed my job and was working on the construction site for a 75 MW solar farm on a 192 hectares. I was the project manager and it was a great learning curve of working extended hours. This was not a 9-5 hours work but a 6:00 to 22:00 hour work schedules.

I had no time even on weekends except to sleep. That sounded like a valid excuse of not having time.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

Stop managing time but manage your priorities.

What are the top five things that really matter in your your life?

I have answered this question when I was reading the book by Steven R. Covey " First Things First" in 2021. I remember that health was my first priority and as such I cannot have any excuse to not exercise, read, meditate, rest, have fun, enjoy healthy meals etc.

SIMPLE 10-MINUTES WORK-OUT

I decided to embark on a 10-Minute bedside work-out program.

Every morning when I wake up or before going to bed, I set a 10-minute timer to do the following

1) Slow lazy yoga

2) Alternate 10 sit-ups, 10-Push up, 20 Squarts

3) Repeat

Does it really work?

No, it does not work, but I worked it out.

Consistency and action always produce results.


Last week I attended a training with some colleagues in Johannesburg and everyone asked me "Do you lift weights?". And I thought to myself, the results are now evident.

The good news is that I am not at size 30 (74cm) and I am feeling and looking so great and alive. I eat healthy, meditate daily, read a great book every morning, have more time with my wife and have more fun.


Self-Aceptance is the first step towards change and the way to increase your self-esteem.

I love my body beyond 50 and enjoying being alive in it.

Accept yourself even if you don't like or enjoy some thoughts, feelings and things you may have done.

Sometimes it might be hard to accept yourself, then you can accept the fact that you don't accept yourself.
