Making your site easier to use for older people!
As I have been doing research into my target market and how to properly communicate my products and services with them I have come across some great material.
Here is a link to a site with tips and suggestions on how to make your site easier to use for older people! http://www.nia.nih.gov/health/publication/making-your-website-senior-friendly
The largest generation in the history of modern man is Baby Boomers and they are the fastest growing population online. This means your site and mine needs to keep them in mind. It is also interesting to note that combined they are the wealthiest generation too!
I hope this is useful for someone out there!

Thank you. That's very useful - definitely worth bearing in mind.... says she, whose eyesight is no longer as good as it used to be ;-)
Great info in that post. Realize, too, that there is a difference between Baby Boomers and seniors, and we Boomers will be the first to tell you that :) Of note, there are a number of WA members who have Baby Boomer websites, myself being one, and we are indeed taking the internet by storm. Thank you for posting this, I've bookmarked the website.
Hi Rick!
Ha ha yes I do realize that another of the more popular terms for the Boomers is the "Forever Young" generation as this group is committed to stay young and live life to the fullest. With that said however one cannot dispute that physiological and bodily changes happen for everyone at roughly the same age thereby eliciting the term "seniors" to be used. In addition there are as we speak 6,000 to 10,000 Boomers reaching retirement every day and a large majority of them are finding retirement very difficult.
For the last six decades the Baby Boomers have literally created the world we live in and they will continue to do so by their sheer numbers!
Nope, we're not seniors, that would be our parents. We have many titles though, you're right there. You sound like you're quite aware of our generation and I do appreciate you taking the time to do this post.
Hi Joe Yes the younger generation do sometimes take it for granted that everyone is computer literate. I myself was a qualified experienced teacher before I sat giggling with a colleague trying to make sense of a dinosaur computer! I'm sure your consideration for others will pay off for you in business terms. I wish you every success.
Hi Arnovski!
I'm glad you found this relevant. And I sure hope by following the suggestions here that it will indeed translate into more business!
It's a great consideration to have. These days we're so focused on the newest and trendiest. Upgrading to mobile-friendly for society on the run. This is a demographic that's largely overlooked. Thanks for sharing Joe!
Absolutely! The Boomers have shaped literally everything we know today. We certainly cannot overlook their legitimacy.
