WOW, WA ranking going in the wrong direction fast!
I have been away for awhile due to workload at my day job. I saw my WA ranking slip up a bit and that was no big surprise. However, now that I've been active again for the last week I have been working hard at catching up and responding to a number of blog posts and new followers but my ranking is still going in the wrong direction and seems to be accelerating. I have gone from around the 500's to now over 1700. It actually jumped from 1501 to 1711 overnight!! That seems a bit harsh. Has anyone else had any similar problems.
I am glad to be back and look forward to reading the great blog posts and getting back to working on my niche. I know my priority should not be on my ranking.........but this seems a bit crazy!

Just wondering; does your WA ranking matter? What, if any, are the benefits of a high ranking position?
I'm not sure of the actual benefits either, but it sure makes you feel better when your work is recognized.

Wow... interesting! But, I think the ranking system here is sometimes a bit of a mistery :) I heard that from others, too...

I am experiencing the same thing only not as drastic. The bigger jumps come at the higher numbers. As new people join there seems to be more "competition" in the early stages.
I keep telling myself to hang in there. After all it's not about rankings I didn't even know existed when I joined. It was about learning a new skill.

Thanks, Dennis. I know it should be my main focus, but I did work hard to get down to the 500 level and wow, before I know it I am at 1711.

I know the feeling. I was down to 86 now at 204 in a month. It appears to be very time consuming to hold rank. I'm not being critical, I just have to prioritize.

Every so often the ranking system is tweaked from the top. In the last year I have seen it happen in August, November and now February. You can expect the next big one in May at that rate. You are obsessing over something that is a great incentive but what you don't really control. Move to your website which you can control The recognition is not as immediate but it is a lot more sure and monetarily rewarding!
