Get More Opt-ins By Tweaking the Title of Your Lead magnet
Need More Subscribers?
If you're just starting to grow your email list his information may be helpful.
If you're struggling to grow your list, this information is definitely something to consider.
For some time I struggled getting readers to notice the opt-in form on my sidebar.
or they saw it an ignored it..
In order to boost the results I did some testing on my site with phrases used on my lead magnet,
Here is what I learned:
- Addressing a problem phrased in the negative
- Including your specific target audience in the title
- Including a negative outcome your target audience want to avoid
Here's why it works.
We are creature of emotion. Unfortunately, we amplify and hang on to negative emotions more than we hang on to positive emotions.
This natural tendency causes us to feel more pain out of one negative experience than positive emotions we experience out of 9 positive experiences. Your goal is to remind your reader of the pain you are willing to solve for them.
Your goal isn't to manipulate, but to add value to their lives. You did this by establishing yourself as a problem solver to your visitors. Of course you do this with your posts and other site content, but the very short title of your lead magnet has the power to accomplish this same goal, too.
My Lead Magnet Formula
I'm not saying this is the only way to create a lead magnet. I'm just saying it worked for me, so it might be worry a shot for you.
So here's an example of how you might title your lead magnet to build your email list:
- "3 Massive Mistakes New Salon Owners Make That Creates Tension for Their Staff and Repels Clients"
- " 5 Myths New Moms Have About Parenting That Keeps the Overwhelmed and Exhausted"
See the pattern?
[a number] + [target audience] + [topic related to niche] + [negative outcome]
When you offer this type of information in exchange for their email address you're positioning yourself as a problem solver.
Now you can send your subscribers a short series, continuing to establish trust.
Like I said, this worked for me. You can make adjustments to what you see here because your readers and their needs are unique. The goal of this post was to give you something to think about and perhaps a way to make adjustments to test out on your site.
The follow up series?
That's for another post. I hope this post gave you something to think about.
Until next time!
