If you read my profile, you know I'm a teacher. I came to WA with the intention of expanding my impact beyond the walls of my classroom.

In the past I've had my own websites. Due too hosting issues I no longer have a site/blog I maintained for about four years. This site focused on teaching methods and pedagogy.

Essentially it served as a resource for staff and teachers. I offered insight to trends in education. I loved maintaining that site. Just when I started to gain some momentum, I was attacked by malware. Unfortunately, the fees to get that site back, and a couple of others I had built on subdomains, was outrageous.

I decided to let those sites go and move on. This is why I came to Wealthy Affiliate. However, my calling to be of service to those in the field of education is still real. My heart drawn to serving teachers.

I know what they need, and I have an understanding of what they want. With the changing times in education and professional development in the field, I feel that I have some valuable insight and viable solutions to current issues facing teachers.

But alas, I also know the value of building affiliate sites. They can be established more quickly than authority sites. They have the power to generate sales more quickly. And, they don't necessarily require the depth and breadth of an authority site.

Knowing this leaves me in a similar struggle I've had in the past: authority vs affiliate.

So, today, I pause. Pause to reflect on what I value more: professional impact or personal income?

Which leads to the next question... Can't I focus on both?

This decision is just one of many to come.
