PPC Funnels: When to Collect an Email List or Promote Something Right Away

The context is as follows:

When targeting niches, sometimes it's better to collect an email list first, then promote something, or perhaps do it vice versa, or just pitch something right away. The way I approach this topic is as follows:

Informational content --> Optin OR promote something (test which works better)

Product review adueicnes --> Just promote the product or something better (offer incentives in the form of bonuses if they sign up, but this is optional)

High ticket items (No trial available) --> Opt in first --> promote it via email list later

These "rules" are not set in stone and you should test them out to see what works better but for beginners, this approach is typically the right one for most PPC funnels.
