A Lil Confused
I got a message saying that my website was indexed by Google, (not exactly sure what that means) but apparently, it's a big thing. So I kinda freaked out thinking it was my website I'm currently working on but it turns out to be the domain I bought which just made me even more confused because I have done nothing with that domain. I have not created a website or anything with that domain so I'm not even sure how Google got a hold of it. I'm very confused.

A page is indexed by Google if it has been visited by the Google crawler ("Googlebot"), analyzed for content and meaning, and stored in the Google index.
It means Google has found you and will now keep an eye on your website. Keep posting and hopefully Google will like your posts and rank them highly.
Hi Virginia, when you create a website, and it is live to everyone, Google can find it when he is crawling the internet.
You don't have to put anything on it for it to be found.
All you have to do now is write articles and publish them to your website.

According to your profile, you have a website created when you created your domain that is your website.
When you get a notification that your website has been indexed by Google is simply means they have found your website online.
This is regardless if you have content or not as this is the first starting point going forward which is good.
What is needed now is to start creating content for the benefit of your readers and getting those posts ranked in the search engines.
So just continue with the training and apply what is taught and keep going forward.

Google indexing is a natural process. It means that Google has found your website. Google under the search engines sends out box little robots to find new content, that is what they do. So being indexed is inevitable.
However, there is a second stage and that his page ranking. When Google or a search engine finds your content it doesn't know what to do with it so it sort of parks it on page 3,427,981. When you add more content, the search engines perk up and think " Ooooh this may be the start of something new!". So it visits the site again.
The more consistent you are the more likely bots will continue to trawl your site. Eventually as your site ages and you gain more content you get a domain rank or a page rank. That means instead of being on page 3,427,981, or in other words the backend of beyond, your site appears on a page i.e. page 50. Eventually the objective is to work up to appear on page 1
