Dreaming Big

I was thinking about how happy eating and drinking makes us. No discrimination among people when it comes to eating and drinking. Thinking about our next meal evokes nothing but joy unless you are on one of those diets.

You know the ones. Can't eat this, can't eat that. I know this from experience. I have been overweight all my life according the medical standards. Truth is I never felt overweight but getting into those trendy clothes of the day was never my style.

I was born in the city. The hustle was real. The fast paced living and working was real. It is just another way to live you know and that comes with everything else life has to offer.

My favorite place in the city was the park. I didn't realize it when I was young but that is where people actually go to sit or just walk to get a little inner peace and relaxation.

Filled with shades of green throughout the scenery is wonderfully pleasant. I love these pristine maintained areas. Most parks don't look like they are part of any city.

Even this environment was riddled with areas filled with appetizing foods. Hot peanuts, pretzels, popcorn, hot dogs, pizza, ice cream. Wait! These are not really good foods.

That's when I realized why I struggled to keep my weight down. I learned the relationship between eating fast food and healthy foods slow.

Eating fast alone can make it harder for our stomach to tell the brain to notice we ate. Eating foods without good fiber and other nutrients digest too fast. This can leave us feeling hungry all the time.

So, it took me a few decades but learned the art of eating right. Nature taught me what I needed to understand and apply.

To be as healthy as possible we need good water or liquids. Good green and colorful foods in our diet. I started taking fresh foods and water when I visited my favorite place. Bad habits are just like a bad addiction, so I had to pray to overcome these and consider myself a food-aholic.

Meditating on better eating and drinking sources helped me manage my stress and other sicknesses.

No one is perfect and having said that I understand the effects of pollution this have on our waters and foods. Organic is not cheap but even on a shoe-string budget I can buy good food.

Two apples, two pears, nuts, pound of kale, bottled water, dried beans or two cans of organic, sardines, tuna, eggs and organic coffee and tea is what I buy every week. I bake my own bread and muffins when I want them.

I just want to be somewhat healthy, happy and safe physically, mentally and spiritually.

I get the craving for salad regularly. Then I give in to my cravings and make up a salad on the spot!

Thanks for bringing up the subject of healthy eating.

Cheers!

Edwin

EdwinBernard,
Hi my friend.....
Don't put regular jarred salad dressing on your salad. All sugar and soy in those. A little lemon juice and olive oil will enhance the true vegetable flavors and nutrients.
Give into that craving indeed!

Thanks for the tip!

This is the way to go, my dear friend, keep it simple, natural, and healthy food is best for you, I'm glad for you that you have added to your diet, fiber, fish, veggies, omega-3s the essential fatty acids, are found in a variety of foods, these fats should be part of any healthy diet. They help melt pounds, reduce inflammation and promote insulin response.

Be well.

Jacqueline
