Greetings To All,

For the rest of this year, I'll be writing weekly posts, of my Healthier Me Challenge!
In each of the posts, I'll be sharing a variety of things: my weekly goals; new recipes; excerpts from books I'm reading; and a few mental obstacles that I'm fighting, to name a few. My hope, is that as I share my journey, I will encourage, inspire and motivate others to reach their Best Self!!!

Weekly Goals:
Instead of focusing on words like "can't", "don't" and "bad", I decided to make some changes. So, each week, I'll adopt a healthier habit, and eliminate an unhealthy habit. It can be anything! The only rule is to adopt AND eliminate!

Week #18
Healthy Habit to Adopt: Vegetarian diet
Unhealthy Habit to Eliminate: lack of exercising

Update:

This is how I felt this week...

These are the words that came to mind: fat...ugly...flabby...ashamed...frustrated...it's not gonna happen...

I'm not proud to report this, but I gotta keep it real. I knew when I embarked on this challenge, that it would not be all butterflies and puppies. There would be some dark stuff to surface.

Interestingly enough, I'm not that discouraged (well, not at this very moment). I much prefer to show and share my bright, shiny and sparkly side...bu that's only a part of who I am. If I don't address the other side, how can I ever make the necessary adjustments...

So what's next?

First and foremost: prayer. I have to pray as if my life depends on it...because it does.

Second, gotta get back to the basics of writing in my journal.

Third, I've given myself too many "allowances" when it comes to snacking.

Fourth, exercise. This seem to be my little monster that taunts and teases me. I think my hesitation for not exercising the way that I need to has to do with a disbelief that I can actually loose the weight I want to loose. So, I still have some major transformation to do in this regard...

Well, I'm off to a Mother/daughter tea; one of the more mature ladies in my church invited me to be her guest, probably to ease the pain of having lost my own mom a year ago. So I will go open to receive the joy and love of the event, but definitely looking forward to beginning fresh.

I appreciate every person who reads my posts, every comment left and every "like".
You guys really spur me on...more than you know.

Have an incredible day, and as always...

Strive to Thrive,
Veronica

Good for you, you can do it.

Thank you, Luba.

You are right Veronica! Words such as can't you shouldn't use. It puts you and your surroundings down. Better say: can, but a little later. And fix when is later.

Well said, Eric! I'm still working on that!

Hi Veronica,
I know exactly how you feel, been there done that. It's not an easy journey, but a journey all the same. Not everything works for everyone. You have to find what works for you in the exercise department, when you do, you'll be more inclined to do it. Don't be too hard or critical on yourself. We've all been in that place, but we learn how to get through it. Your process of what to do will work for you. I can relate to the Mother/daughter tea. One of the "church mothers" invited me to an event similar to that in June. My mom passed away close to 4 years ago, I know how you feel. This will be a good thing for you to participate in, I think you will enjoy it. I always enjoy reading and commenting on your posts, they are so personal. You always have a good outlook on what is going on in your life. Thank you so much for your insight and inspiration. Have a great weekend, take care my friend.
Mary

Thanks so much, Mary. I want to be real in my writing, which is a challenge because I would much prefer to just show my fun side, but this challenge helps me to stay honest.

The luncheon was absolutely fabulous! I may write about it tomorrow. I so appreciate you always taking the time to read my blogs, Mary. Thank you!

Hello, Veronica. Every transformation begins with the renewing of our mind, Veronica. So if you want to keep it real, don't focus on the natural reality but focus on the spiritual reality, especially the side of your identity and legal status in Christ. With the help of God and friends, your natural reality will align with your spiritual reality. Have a nice and blessed weekend.

Yes, making sure my spirit is healthy is most important. Thanks, Nelson.

Every journey begins with the baby steps. You are going in the right direction. Enjoy your weekend. Debbie

Thank you, Debbie.

Thanks for the encouragement, Reanna.
