The last 10 days of vacation have been glorious visiting with my siblings and younger generations, nieces and grand nieces. It was good to be home with everyone contributing to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The days flew by and here I am back at work with renewed energy and enthusiasm. As I perused through my mail I received this testimonial from someone that purchased my book ‘Caregiver Triumphant’ on Amazon and in my excitement wish to share what he wrote:“Hi Vena I

Hello Everyone: The last three months have been extremely hard on me. I need to focus on myself and pay attention to my own health. That’s what I encourage caregivers to do so I lead by example. I’ll be away for 10 days July 11 – 21.It is necessary to take a step back from my routine to rest my mind and body. I believe spending some time with my relatives in beautiful Trinidad & Tobago will provide a fresh burst of energy, I'll then return and pick up from where I left of

Over the last 2 years I’ve had to make major changes in my life. The rewards and challenges of care giving to my spouse provided me an opportunity to change for better. My health had deteriorated in all areas, mentally, emotionally, physically and my energy level greatly diminished.I was forced to take a step back, re-evaluate my life and find the best possible solution to be able to carry on. Undoubtedly, the stress of caring for my loved one with a chronic condition, multiple sclerosis

On February 14, 2015, I registered my domain name with Name Cheap. This was the beginning of a new and adventurous journey that became my new reality. In retrospect, I felt that WA captured my interest, offered me the prospect of growth and development that I was searching for, so without hesitation I signed up. I have always been curious, willing to learn new things, flexible and not afraid to take on challenges. Am I having challenges here at WA? You bet! However, in spite of my challenges

One year ago, I was on the brink of collapse and I was scared. I was mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted, I was in pain. I could not entertain the thought of anything, except for positive changes in my life. A determination to change led me to WA where I am learning to change my life in a most productive and rewarding way.The ability to express my thoughts through writing enables me to release and relieve myself of an abundance of internalized emotions in a responsible fashion. I believe I have come a long way with my site posting quality content, keeping up with visitors comments and getting ranked in Google. I am now learning to interact on social media (better late than never). Ultimately, I would like to work in private counselling for caregivers. However, I do not have a formal designation like a degree in psychology, social work, nursing etc. What I do have is a wealth of practical experience, a calming spirit, a therapeutic voice, and, I am a very good caregiv

I attended a function last night and an elderly widower sat across the room from me. This elderly gentleman in his late 80’s had laid his late wife’s body to rest in the morning, and the function was held in the very church where the funeral mass was celebrated. One would think he would be much laboured and needs to rest from his grief. This bereaved elderly, obviously distraught and destitute shared this story. ‘He went to his bank to make funeral arrangements to bury his wife

As I start off the New Year (2016) I remind myself of the Four Things that never come back, namely: The Spoken Word; The Sped Arrow; The Past Life and The Neglected Opportunity. The Spoken Word: Words are powerful and once spoken we cannot take them back. The words we speak can make us or break us. We live in a society where we are privileged to have freedom of speech and our spoken word is taken for granted. Once the words are spoken they will be transmitted into either concrete or abstract c

2015 gave me a new perspective. I became stronger with a more determined mindset to focus on myself first. That determination and the courage to change took me to Wealthy Affiliate. Here, I embarked on creating a home based business. I’ve come a long way compared to one year ago. I’m doing incredibly well as I research and publish articles that are well received by visitors to my site.My caregiver’s experience afforded me the opportunity to start writing a book that I will sha
