How to find your Google analytics Tracking ID with the latest May 2019 update

I know that if some of you are like me, you were completely confused when it came to creating your google analytics account. Apparently, there was a new update in May of 2019 which added beta versions of different things to the program and it changed the entire look of the website. So much so that it was hard to find my Google Analytics Tracking ID.

I found a way through another blogger (of which I wished i had saved the website so that i can post it directly here) but here is what I learned.

During your sign up process in Google analytics, you must select the option that is specifically WEB as shown in photo below:

By creating your "web" only account, you will be able to find your tracking ID with ease.

What happened to me was I created the account with "app and web" option instead of just "web" (and its very easy to make this mistake as Kyle's training has no mention of this and there was no indication that there was a specific difference). When I did, I found all other numbers except my tracking number and this is because they are running a beta test with this option so it will not have all the features as yet.

If you did accidentally create an account with the "apps and web" option, its easy to just create a new property within your same account (you dont need to create a whole other google account with this. You can have multiple properties listed underneath this one account). Just go to the admin tab, select the account you wish to add the new property under and then select the blue "+ Create Property" button next to the Property title at the top. From there, you will be taken through the same process as you did when you first created your Google analytics page but this time remember to choose the "web" only option.

There ya go! You should be straight from there :)

If you have any more questions, please dont hesitate to ask as I will try my best to be of any other assistance.

no problem tim!

Thanks so much for this as I haven't been getting any feed for ages, yet Google Console says I have traffic.
I will try this and see if it changes for me.

Warm regards
Lily 😊

I hope it does Lily! Let me know if it works.

I tried it but nothing changed. In fact what I could see for October disappeared. But Google Console is showing clicks right up to today. I really have tried everything now so I have asked site support if they have any suggestions. I always hate to bother them, but I'm all out of ideas now. Google Console is showing a huge upsurge today on my website but nothing on Analytics.

Big sigh. Hopefully they can help.
Lily 😊

Oh boy. I hope support can help you as well then.

Thanks. They did. It was a mistake I made when I first set up Google Analytics. I registered the name of my page instead of the domain name. They fixed that so now I am beginning to see real time info. Yeah.
A newbie mistake but easily fixed by our techy talents.

It's wonderful having such support.

Lily 😊

Thank you for sharing this and letting everyone know where they have relocated this. This will be extremely helpful!

No problem!
