'Pound it, noggin'. It's today. The day that changed your life. Now for those of you who know about 'Dude Perfect' the catchphrase 'Pound it, noggin' will be familiar as they say it at the end of each of their videos. If you have no idea who they are, I suggest you give yourselves a five-minute break and go and watch one of them.
Why ? Well, just because they're fun. They do outrageous stunts that will make your jaw drop, like throwing basket balls of the top of tall buildings, that fall hundreds of feet and straight through a hoop on the ground. They have expanded their horizons over the years but one thing has remained a constant, well two actually, they never take themselves to seriously and they are always having a good time.

Back to the blog. This one has evolved even as I'm writing, which is always fun. I can't type as fast as my brain works, that's for sure, so it might get messy, oh well. I was originally thinking I might throw in a few quotes I heard this morning in the hope that for some of you they may give you that 'Ah-ha!' moment but then when I wrote the title it went skew-whiff, so it we'll just have to see. Who knows, you might still get something from this, that does indeed change your life, stranger things have happened. One sentence, an image, a video can all have a profound effect on us.
I'm sure most of you have seen clips where someone throws a basketball from one end of the court and it goes in the hoop at the other end. Doing it as a trick shot for the camera can be different though. You see the final version, what you don't see are the hundreds of previous attempts that didn't work. You watch the video and go 'Wow' and unless you're in permanent 'cynic' mode then you never think about the rest of the failures.
This brings me to one of the quotes that was in my mind, more of a paragraph really. This was from a short clip I watched a month or so ago.

"When you see someone who is the best in the world at what they do, they are being rewarded in public for what they've practiced millions of times in private"
So what we see around us that inspires us, is really just the tip of the iceberg. The end result of years of dedication. The result of thousands upon thousands of hours of hard work. Side bar coming. Serendipity in action ? I just went out to make a couple of pieces of toast and the radio is on in the kitchen. What are they talking about ? Ben Stokes, the England cricketer. He has just been made 'BBC Sports Personality of the Year'. They've just replayed some of the highlights of his Third Test innings at Headingley, this year. For those with an experts eye, it was up there as one of the greatest of all time.
Being able to produce such a display didn't happen by chance. The pinnacle wasn't reached
after a lunchtime chat about what he wanted to try his hand at. This was down to years of learning, honing and practicing his craft. There would have been failures along the way, set-backs, naysayers and self-doubt. Yet he carried on, day after day.
You will find similar stories behind the majority of those we hold high. So, do you think there was a day that changed their lives ? Was there a moment they can look back on and say, with conviction, was the start or the turning point ?
Have you had that day yet or are you still waiting for it ? Maybe for some it was the day you decided to go premium here at WA. 'This is it' you thought. 'I am on my way' How's that working out for you ?
Maybe you hit the ground running with all good intentions. Website up. articles being added hand over fist, maybe even a couple of sales or referrals along the way. Then stuff happens and life takes over for a while and it's difficult to get back into the swing of things. Let's get the holidays out of the way, we'll get back on it in the new year. I get it, we all have different circumstances and priorities, Life's a balancing act, for sure. No worries.
Well, looks like we've come full circle. Pound it, noggin from the guys that spend hundreds of hours to get that one shot, maybe only ten seconds of footage. Ben Stokes match winning innings in the 'Ashes'.
Was there a day that changed their lives ? A moment when they decided to take action and pursue their dreams, knowing that the path would be hard and long.
Have you had that day yet ? Or are you still waiting for it, still waiting for that 'sound bite', still waiting for......what ?
