Limbo Land Is Covered In Snow

Not what I was expected at 5.45 am, looks like I might have missed this particular memo. We are now in 'Limbo land' and my kingdom is covered in snow.

Needless to say that the two Huskies were in their element this morning, which made for some interesting moments, I can tell you.

We are now in that 'void' between Christmas and the New Year, a time when we're not really sure what we're meant to be doing. Luckily for us, our valiant marketing efforts can continue unabated.

I am all set for some mammoth (seasonal) writing this morning and afternoon, continuing with my efforts to tidy up some loose ends.

How has the festive period been for you all? I am hoping that you have all had a wonderful time and are now fully recovered from the excesses that this time of year brings.

We had a reasonably quiet time, which was alright, all things considered. Everyone seemed happy enough with their present haul, which was nice.

Christmas Eve is when we have our main dinner, a tradition carried on from when the children were young and had no desire to eat anything healthy on Christmas day. Meal preparation was down to me and although at first glance it could be considered a logistical nightmare, all went well, an operation carried out with military precision and it was edible.

The best part was that all six of us managed to sit and eat the entire meal and no one was hurt, which is always a 'win' in my book.

The only criteria for the 25th is that nothing is off the table, anything goes, a day when whatever you decide you want to do is perfectly fine. This did mean that a number of selection boxes were devoured before ten o'clock.

I will be perfectly honest, I'm not a fan of this time of year, something that I haven't managed to throw off since my younger days but I don't put a downer on things, I'm just not a 'Clark W. "Sparky" Griswold Jr' kind of character.

That said, I did have a smile on my face when I opened my own swag, although I was slightly concerned with one of the choices of reading material.

Maybe they're seeing something I'm not 🤔. Oh well, I will enjoy 'Troy' of that I am sure. As a book hungry teenager, I lost myself in the classics by Homer, Virgil, Plutarch and Thucydides. Maybe not your usual reading material but if you wanted to be taken to far off places and become embroiled in epic stories, then

there really was nothing to compare, although it has to be said, I was equally taken by Stephen King's (and Peter Straub) 'The Talisman' and Jeffrey Archer's 'Kane and Abel'.
Of course, no young bibliophile worth their salt would be seen dead without a well-thumbed copy of 'Lord of the Rings' by Tolkien but I digress.

So, as well as a giant, dark chocolate Toblerone, a yard of shortbread and an engraved keyring, I was also the proud recipient of a 'Tommy Walsh' tool belt (the stuff of legends) A stark reminder that as much as I like to gambol in the meandering meadows of morphemes, there are more pressing engagements for me to attend to, sigh.

In other news, a couple more posts were indexed, which always both surprises and pleases me. Yet another transcribed video became an ebook, with another due to be published today.

I have, however, been remiss on social media for the last few days and need to make amends forthwith, though I have been throwing a few quotes out across the etherways.

Talking of quotes, that has just reminded me of another gift that was bestowed upon me, it is a book of affirmations, one a week for the next fifty-two. I should really start using it in January but I couldn't wait. This week's affirmation is "I can make a difference to the world", works for me, how about you?

Sorry, last one and then I'm gone. One of the brood has been rewatching 'Sons of Anarchy' which has caused me to pause in the doorway a few times. Anyway, I caught some of the dialogue the other day and made a note of it, wondering if this isn't something we all suffer from at certain times.

"I start thinking about my thinking and getting lost in the details of nothing. Nothing can pull me out of it." Bonus points if you know who said it (without looking it up)

I'll leave you to your day, I should catch up with you before New Year but until then, enjoy the last few days of 2020.

Seems you had a perfect Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve is the time when we (I mean all our country) celebrate, we have carp and/or steak with potato salad and then get the presents. We had a nice one as well. I'm stuffed since then :-)
You got beautiful presents, the tool belt looks awesome!
Hope Dex was also happy to be with his new family.

It frees up Christmas day for lounging and pigging out on rubbish.
Sounds like you had a good one as well, all our leftovers are well and truly gone, just chocolate left, which the children are giving their best shot at finishing.
I was very happy with my lot😁, hope you had all that was on your list.

That snow looks wonderful. Here on the east coast of Canada, we had an unseasonably warm and wet Christmas day. I don't ever remember having a daytime high of +15 Celcius and heavy downpours for Christmas Day. When we moved here 20 years ago we had deep snowdrifts.

I like to think of the time between Christmas and New Years' as a time of quiet reflection. Think about what went well in 2020 and find the lesson in the things that didn't work out so well.

It is time to set goals for 2021. What do you want to accomplish in your business? What do you want your personal life to look like? These are all things to be considered and of course written down.

After all, a dream is only a dream until it is written down at which time it becomes a goal.

Best wishes in the new year my friend. Take care.

Thank you, Richard, you too.
Yes indeed, I am currently putting to together my plans for 2021 and am definitely looking forward positively. I am quietly excited at the prospect of a new year and being able to draw a line under 2020.
Thank you for popping in, I feel a 'follow' is in order, good to meet you.

Ohhhh snow! I am so jealous. Really hoping we get some and enough to make a snowman with the grandkids. I love it.
Don't think of the time between Christmas and New Year as limbo, more a recovery time from the manic activity.
Not a fan of the classics, though my younger daughter was by the time she was 8. At 6 she was reading Greek myths. Bless her!
I loved Stephen King, and Jeffrey Archer too amongst others, many moons ago.

I have discovered that affirmations only work if your self image is positive. If it's not then apparently you are wasting your time.
That made a lot of sense to me when I read it.
I like that affirmation."I can make a difference to the world" I feel its true if only because the colour of my hair makes people smile, lol.

So, what colour is your hair at the moment? My good lady went green for a while but ran out of dye and hasn't been able to find any more since.
That does make sense, I think conquering the 'self-image' is massively overlooked but in the same breath, not always easy to do, those inner voices can have a powerful influence over us.
I used to be a big fan of Dick Francis, especially the older ones, it's like stepping back in time.
I don't read as much as I would like nowadays, most of the time I am reading online. I am formulating a daily structure and I really should set aside half an hour for actual books.

Turquoise and purple, neon colours last longer. It is going to be faded by the time I get it done again. Lol.
I had a Dick Francis phase too. I use to go through 10 or more books a week at one stage. Now it's all non fiction and I only read so many pages at a time so I can integrate what I have learnt better.
This book I am reading now is cybernetics and psychology. Mel Waller recommended it. It is looking at the same things from a different perspective. It says that changing the self image is easily doable, that if you can tie a shoe lace, you can follow the instructions and change the self image. Not got as far as instructions yet but will let you know. If I can change me into a super brain, 20 something entrepreneur it will be amazing.🤣😂

Now that sounds like a good read. I wonder if we view our self-image from the inside looking out, or from the outside looking in.

From reading, it seems we can think we have a good self image and are a positive person on the surface but there are still things that hold us back.
It is interesting the way they present the thought processes etc from a cybernetics viewpoint.
Essentially though, I think we are inside looking out.
"This body is the car I ride
the real me deep inside."

"This body is the car I ride
the real me deep inside."

😎That's a great line.

I did some 'work' on myself a few years back and it was surprising what revealed itself, it certainly helped explain a few things.

That was a meditation download I had.

It is surprising what you learn about yourself when you go inwards.

Certainly is, mine was a bit of a revelation but it did add reason to why I did certain things the way I did, kind of like 'closure'.

That is good.

Still no snow here, so if you would like to send some this way that would be great, lol.

It's nearly all gone now, sorry😥.

Wow snow Twack! We didn’t get any unfortunately! I was hoping we would as they said there might be some. My son was devastated this morning.

Sounds like you’ve been busy. We needed a change of scenery so on our last day of freedom we had Christmas dinner in a local restaurant and spent the whole afternoon there in front of the log fires eating and drinking. It was a lovely day and one to be cherished, even more so now that we’re in lockdown again.

Enjoy the snowball fight and looking forward to seeing pics of your snowman ☃️

It was a surprise, that;'s for sure, I was not expecting it in the slightest. It's meant to snow again tomorrow but right now it's thawing rapidly, if it freezes we'll be in trouble, living on a hill.

Your Christmas dinner sounds idyllic and certainly one to savour for many years to come.

We're in Tier2, so no house parties or sleepovers but otherwise it's tolerable.

If meal preparation every fails, Twack, there's always takeout and delivery 👍

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
Isaiah 😊

Thank you, Isaiah, likewise for yourself, it's not been a bad one, just different.
Pizza seems to be the only thing anyone ever wants to order in these days, I'd rather get a custom one from Asda.
