Grammarly Grammar

I will admit that my grammar is not always what it should be. That is an unfortunate by-product of writing as you speak, so to speak, I suppose.

I have just downloaded 'Grammarly for Windows' and have subsequently received a few follow up emails. Below is an excerpt from the latest.

Is there any of the above that doesn't look particularly 'Grammarly' or is it just me ? If it's not me are they being ironic ?

"write to us?" is what I see. I use word to spell & grammar check. Or maybe you can use google word doc? if you don't have word.

You're on it Ronald. Site Content works well enough for me. Nice to meet you.

I think you’re in the right place there, Twack. Lots of folks here at WA use Grammarly.

Still need to keep an eye on their 'corrections' though. For my level, Site Content works well enough, with a reread added in.

Write us now for your free version of Grammarly!

The system here in WA wants me to change that to "write to" us.

I want to use "write to" us as write us just does not feel correct to me. As you say below it fees off, like nails on a chalkboard.

Acceptable to some, so I've been informed. Not for me though, it 'grates'

I take it you don't use site content to do your posts. There is a very good grammar checker built in. I always use it and then proofread anyway, because grammar checkers won't spot an error if the word is a real word, even if it is one you didn't want.

I actually only use Site Content. I misguidedly thought that 'Grammarly' software would monitor any written work I was doing on my desktop. The amount of times I've spotted 'form' when it should have been 'form.'

lol By definition, English is English and American English is an oxymoron.

I write (professionally) in both versions and have many clients in the US, thanks for the income guys.

I do my best to be accepting of the US version, but when I have a client who insists that "whilst" is not a word, well, you know, whatever... (pretty sure that phrase is an Americanism as well).

Dunno though, when you have a world series that's only contested in the US, a fanny pack - 50% of which means something completely different where I come from (the UK) and the inability to understand that everything is easier when you divide by 10 (metric vs imperial), it makes you wonder :)

Just saying...

As long as I keep making sure I keep the 'u' where it should be and don't swap the 's' for a 'z' I'll be happy. Nice to meet you Les.

This is an excellent post.

Thanks Johane. Be well.

Thank you so much.

I use Grammarly all the time. I've even written them. lol

Nicely done. It's like nails down a chalkboard.

My ex is a Geordie and she had the same kind of issues with some of the American syntax. I thought that was kind of funny given the Geordie syntax. Howay man! lol

Away tha lads, indeed.

Lol - as a professional writer and proofreader I use the premium version of Grammarly and love it. But yes, I wouldn't dream of saying "write us"

Finally, thank you Diane. I have been outvoted at home, quite adamantly, I might add.

I love grammarly but I'm only using the free version.

Same here. I like free.

Love it, used it for a few years

Hi David,

Are you advertising grammarly affiliate program?

I am a premium member and would like to take advantage of the affiliate program.

Thank you.

Actually, they have an affiliate program. In Bootcamp I believe the ruses are that we aren't supposed to advertise or use links to leading to other products. I use Grammarly and have for several years. I have found that one improves after a while.
