Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Goodbye Yellow brick road, it's time to follow the one paved with gold.

Oh, I've finally decided my future lies
Beyond the yellow brick road.

It's a 'mish mosh'. You can thank Reg for the most part and cringe at my addition in the first line. As much as I enjoy a good Elton John song, I still get drawn into 'The Wizard of Oz' obviously, as that's where the 'Yellow Brick Road' comes from. Where's it's going, well, that's a different matter altogether.

I've never delved, too much, into the hidden meaning of things, the intent behind the theme, as it

were. I did read 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' and then subsequently the 'guide' that came out afterwards to explain it. Problem was, I didn't always agree with it. Like so many things, it was my own interpretation that mattered. The same with a piece of art. You look at it and whatever it invokes in you, may be different from the person stood next to you.

An example of this has to be Tracey Emin's 'The Bed' which sold

for £2.2 million in 2014. "Oh but darling, you can't put a price on true art"

Dorothy's journey, along with Tinman, Scarecrow and the Lion, is one that should definitely not be travelled alone. Together is much better. Upon closer inspection, the story itself is far more complex than we might first appreciate. The film adaption is based on not just one but many books, with dozens of characters that all have a relevance. Ultimately the version we see is much less complicated and has more simple messages for us to take. Yet again though, I think what we take will vary, depending on who we are.

So, can we see ourselves on the same journey ? Following our own yellow brick road ? Are we looking for something on our way ?

Each of us may see something of ourselves in the main characters and that's OK because at the end of the journey we find that whatever it was that we were searching for was already inside ourselves. The gifts of a watch, diploma and medal (These vary in the books) are all mere trinkets and have no power but do provide recognition of what already lies within each of the characters.

Being on this journey together is our chance to help each other find what we are looking for. The destination will be different for all of us but the journey will be shared. Many of us will face challenges along the way, both of a personal and business nature.

Our true powers or virtues lie within ourselves. We need to look within, to see them, as they are already there.

That's me done then. This post was another that was 'lying on the cutting room floor'. I have no idea why I never got round to posting it. The reason I did today, is that my original post started to branch off into other realms and I ended up with about four or five different topics to cover. I shall now go and attend to them.

Indulge yourselves this weekend, you've worked hard and deserve it.

Twack Romero.

Oh boy! I could really go off on a few tangents if I delve too far into the hidden meanings I took away from the whole trip to Oz story!

To sum up though - I think it personifies the fact that we're all on our own personal journeys, and all have our own inner demons. Even though we might be surrounded by others who support us, we will only really gain insight into our strengths if we also accept and embrace our weaknesses. Doing so will make us whole.

I love that you've called them our 'true powers' though, since once we find them within ourselves, there is nothing we can't do!

Happy Sunday!
Shannon

"accept and embrace our weaknesses"

That's it right there. Once we have identified them, it's up to us to do something about it. The tough part is actually realising them, I guess. Having one of 'those' conversations has benefits if we're also prepared to take on board the 'critique'.
It's sometimes difficult to hear but for me, it gave me the chance to change certain things and that was a good thing.

Thank you Shannon, enjoy the rest of 'Happy Sunday'

Hey Twack,
As you know one has to face that inner journey which can prove to be harrowing before they can truly understand that all you need is within where the sum culmination of everything that you know, experience,dream resides and is the key to an open mind that truly seeks the solution to what ails one! wish more people would take that journey its a real eye opener!!
At least you are showing the way and pointing to existence that has got to be well worth it even if just one more person is prompted down that yellow brick road! Good on you friend ;
R,

Thank you Rami. Certainly discovering the issues from the past and making peace with them, helps us to move forward.
Have a great day.

Your welcome Twack ;
You too friend...and no washing and all that take a day off as impossible as that is with these time starved friend rich times of ours! ;
R.

I was strong, no washing.

Lols.... that's the way!! Good for you!!

The first thing I thought about from this title was the song by Elton John!
“I’ve finally decided my future lies
beyond the yellow brick road.”

Or the song “Over the Rainbow”...
“Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
And the dreams that you dream of
Dreams really do come true”

I think all of the above apply, and believe that the difference between a dream and a reality is action.

So onward dreamers, and just like Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion, what we need to make them true is likely already within us.

KyleAnn

They are all beautiful words. I didn't realise until a couple of weeks ago, how prolific a songwriter Elton John was. He produced six albums between 69-71 and nineteen between 69-79. Pretty incredible.
We are all helping each other make our dreams come true.
Thank KyleAnn.

His lyricist Bernie Taupin is the word genius. Elton makes the music to bring the words to life. There’s been no other collaboration like it.

I am always amazed by little snippets like this KyleAnn, thank you. Every now and then I find out that someone other than the performer wrote the songs, that's always enlightening.

Thank you TwAck, I never want to do the journey alone, (not anymore), I have found I no longer have to....I am happy, (in fact more than happy, joyous even) , to walk with my scarecrow, tin man, lion & Dorothy, you are one of those characters and beckon me along the way, and hopefully sometimes I You...🦁

You're welcome and absolutely. I like to think that we all walk alongside each other and there is no 'hopefully', you have.
Not sure which one I'd be, I might have to look further into the cast, the book has many more interesting characters.

Ahhh....TwAck...
😁
