Google's Early Priorities For 2017
In the process of researching an upcoming blog post I came upon some Google information/changes I thought I would share with the membership.
The first item on Google's list is making sure that each site has a published SSL certificate in place. Your Google rank will suffer, if you do not have an SSL certificate in place.
Next on their agenda is popup adds on webpages, particularly on mobile devices. Google customers find them to be very obtrusive and annoying and Google has been listening to their complaints. Also Google has found that popup adds often can cover an entire screen on a mobile device and can even be hard to get rid of. When Googlebot crawls your webpages and your mobile webpages, be aware that they will be looking on popup adds with disfavor and your page will be penalized if popup adds are found.
This last change is going to have significant impacts on those entrepreneurs running websites that load poorly. The "Googlebot" crawler speed requirements for mobile devices suggests the 2-4 second page loading time "sweet-spot" requirements now being required by Google.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm VERY glad that Google will start "penalizing" pop up ads. I use a mobile device 85% of the time. There is nothing more frustrating than having a pop ad add block what I'm trying to see and being unable to get rid of it because it covers so much of the screen.
Have a great day.
